How to Navigate the Parts of Building a Business that Don’t Come Naturally

How to Navigate the Parts of Building a Business that Don’t Come Naturally

When you think about being your own boss, what are you actually saying yes to?

For many, ideas of freedom, full-expression, creativity, control, collaboration, fun, meaning, and, sure, money, come to mind. And all of those may well be a part of the experience. Though, many of those qualities take months, if not years to “earn” your way into.?

But, what about the other things we’re saying yes to, without even realizing it? The potential for never-ending days, entire seasons of profound challenge, having to constant adapt and pivot to accommodate the market and times, and, on a day-to-day basis, doing work that does not fall squarely in your “Sparked zone.” In fact, it might even involve doing things that outright empty you, because, at least in the beginning, there’s no one else to do them.

So, how do you navigate these experiences, and still remain inspired, energized and, as often as possible, fully activated, expressed and alive?

And especially if you're just getting started and don't want to lose momentum, how do you quickly identify where in your business structure you need the most support? This is where we're headed in this week's SPARKED Podcast episode in response to Natalie, this episode's featured listener, who asks:

How can I create a structure where I can thrive as a Nurturer/Advisor in my coaching business when building and organization aren't natural talents?

As a new owner of her coaching business, Natalie has found herself at a crossroads. She wants to create structure in her company and, in fact, thrives in well-organized work environments, but feels like actually creating all those systems, processes, resources, assets, etc. is her Achilles heel. Good news is, it doesn’t have to be. For Natalie, or for any new business owner.

Joining us this week to help tease out strategies and ideas on creating process, structure and, also, questioning assumptions about what is truly necessary in a new business, is SPARKED Braintrust member Jadah Sellner. Jadah Sellner is the CEO of Jadah Sellner Media , co-founder of Simple Green Smoothies, host of the Lead with Love Podcast, business mentor and coach, and author of the forthcoming book, She Builds .?

Love the topic this week. Thinking about this as relates to the process of releasing a book: some parts of it I love. Some parts of it are onerous but necessary, and I'm stuck more in those right now. How do I spend the most time feeling alive as I go?
