Tips for a Strong Start
As a project manager, you’re not just in charge of tasks, you’re leading people, so building a positive connection is key. When you effectively introduce yourself to a new team, especially on Zoom or Teams, it sets the stage for great collaboration.
Here are a few tips to guide you in making a virtual connection that builds trust, credibility, and connection right from day one.
Tip one: Start with enthusiasm
When you first meet a new team, you want to acknowledge their role in your project and express enthusiasm about working together. To do that, you might share something positive that you’ve heard about the team or the company, and let them know you’re excited to dive in and support them.
Tip two: Share something personal
Another way you can foster good team dynamics with your project team right from day one is to share a bit of personal information. For instance, sharing a project management tip you're known for or telling them you’re an avid runner outside of work can help to make you more relatable.
With an online introduction, it’s all about a making a personalized connection. ?
