How my stereotypical view of Cyprus changed from my first ‘fam’ trip

Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to go on a familiarisation trip to Limassol in Cyprus, exploring its rich variety of cuisine, stunning landscapes, and luxurious accommodations. From Dubai, you can fly on Cyprus Airways directly three times per week to Larnaca with great rates and is approximately 4 hours each way.

Upon arrival in Cyprus, we were greeted by the warm Mediterranean sun even though it was still only the end of March. We were hosted by the exquisite and recently opened City of Dreams integrated resort and casino. Nestled between the Mediterranean Sea and the stunning Troodos Mountains, this luxurious hotel offered a perfect blend of Middle Eastern hospitality and European flair.

I’d always considered Cyprus a destination for British families seeking some summer sun in Paphos. I quickly learned that the City of Dreams in Limassol really has something for everyone! For adults seeking relaxation and an upscale escape, the chic pool bar at Ana?s and the lavish casino provided ample opportunities to unwind and indulge. Families were equally catered to with a kids’ club and adventure park for teens, ensuring every member of the family had a memorable experience.

The spacious rooms at City of Dreams were comfortable and elegant, with thoughtful touches paying homage to the local culture, such as bathroom toiletries inspired by the fragrant orange groves that dot the landscape. After a day of exploration, guests could rejuvenate body and mind at the Renu Spa, boasting a sauna, steam room, and cold plunge pool as well as six treatment rooms.

During our time in Limassol, we had the opportunity to explore the surrounding area, from the historic Colossi Castle to the picturesque village of Omodos. A visit to the monastery provided a glimpse into Cyprus's religious heritage, while Limassol Marina buzzed with locals celebrating Greek Independence Day.

A highlight of the trip was our excursion to the Troodos Mountains, where we visited the Ktima Gerolemo winery and sampled the flavours of local wines amid breathtaking scenery. The ancient ruins of Kurion offered a fascinating glimpse into Cyprus's rich history, while panoramic views from the mountain peaks provided us with stunning views of the island's natural beauty.

In conclusion, my fam trip to Cyprus was a truly unforgettable experience, filled with fantastic cuisine, adventure, and relaxation. Cyprus truly is a destination that has something for everyone, and I cannot wait to return and explore more of the island. It’s a great gateway to the Greek islands, meaning you could tie it in with a bigger Mediterranean trip.

If you’re looking for a Mediterranean getaway, reach out and let’s make plans. Yiamas!
