How My Mule Taught Me Humility

It was a chilly, gray overcast morning. The ground was wet from the evening rain, and I was looking forward to visiting Miss Molly. As I walked down the path to the East paddock, I could hear Miss Molly grazing at the back of the paddock under the old pine tree.
"Hello, my beauty, I called out. Miss Molly's head snapped to attention, and her ears pointed in my direction like a radar beam homing in on its target. "Hello," I responded, anticipated her return greeting. Suddenly I could hear the drumbeat of Miss Molly's hooves striking the ground as she trotted to greet me.
She snuggled her head against my shoulder, and I hugged her and gave her a peppermint treat. I put on her red halter and the led line. I opened the paddock gate and went for a walk in the forest.
It is humbling when a twelve-hundred-pound mule chooses to greet me in a lovely way, soul to soul. Miss Molly made a conscious choice to join up with me and trust me as my partner.
It's a good lesson for a leader, be humble in your leadership role. Your followers choose to follow or unfollow you. Leadership is an honor and a privilege.
All that you are is the result of someone else's sacrifice.?Be humble
