How my client, Raj, managed to free himself from the burden of memorization

Raj, as a manager, was busy with his demanding work.

By the time he got home,

he felt knackered,

and the little free time he had left he

??wanted to spend it with his friends and family to recharge.

So when the topic of memorization came up in one of our first sessions,

I could literally see his energy level drop. ??

He pictured reviewing vocabulary as something that:

??requires hours of his free time -taking him away from his family and friends,

??calls for extra self-discipline being able to stay focused after a long day at work,

??is monotonous and repetitive -makes it really hard to enjoy the process.

After encouraging him to think outside the box, he came up with some simple but

??very smart ideas.

His thought process was asking himself three crucial questions:

? WHEN would be the optimal time for him to study?

He didn’t want to miss out on conversations with his family in the morning at the breakfast table.

??So he decided when he was getting ready in the bathroom, he would look at some

word cards. Reading them out LOUD!

What he came up with:

Pro tip:

Never forget that memorization has to be an

??ACTIVE process!

Be aware that reading

without articulating the words does not tick that box.

Pro tip:

To look at 3 words a day repeatedly is not too daunting. Throughout the day whenever you have 5 minutes,

say the words out loud.

?HOW MANY words to cover daily?

Less is more.

??It shouldn’t be more than three expressions/ words.
