How music could help your garden this summer

By now, many of us have probably already enjoyed a couple of BBQs, social gatherings or even the odd day out of the office or two, as we take full advantage of our gardens and the warmer weather we are experiencing.
For the green-fingered amongst us, this probably means spending much of our time tending to plants, beginning to grow vegetables, and even working on brand-new garden projects.
No matter what the size or scale of gardens or outdoor spaces, there can often be something rewarding about growing your own and bringing your outdoor space to life – especially when it comes to being successful at trying something new.
Like most gardeners, you may have heard several theories (or just what you like to think of as old wives’ tales) about the best ways to tend to each of your plants, including perhaps, the best time to water or the best compost to use.
What you may not have heard about though, is the relationship that music can have on gardening, and how different music can affect plants in different ways.
According to gardening guru Chris Beardshaw, rock music appears to help plants grow larger flowers and gives them the best resistance to pests and diseases.*
Jazz on the other hand is thought to help plans grow quicker, while Classical music could help plants grow better, bushier, and greener.**

Whatever it may be, we all have our favourite songs but, have probably never considered they may benefit our plants too.?
So, the next time you head into your garden or plan to do some potting up in your green house, grab your radio or turn up your sound speaker – it might just be the boom your garden needs!?
