You’ve heard the expression “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket!”
And someone probably once told you to “Do one thing and do it really well.”
Where does that leave us when it comes to marketing online?
Is being on LinkedIn enough? Should you be maximising your visibility by being on other platforms? And if so, how many, which ones?!
The last thing I want to do is confuse you, but we’ve got to ask all the questions before we can come up with a simple solution to solve them all. Which is what we’re doing here!
Creating a multi-platform marketing strategy, simply put, means allowing your business to exist and be visible on various platforms, by having consistently active profiles or accounts, on these platforms.
At least once a year, the major social media platforms will give us an absolute fright with algorithms changes and shut downs.
It’s generally in these moments that we tend to realise we should probably not have put off starting that email list, or creating that other account.
But for most people, it sounds like a lot of extra work, in an already busy schedule. Which is why it’s very often added to the to-do list and lost in procrastination.
So what are the benefits of multi-platform marketing?

How to pick which platforms to market on:
For example, if you’re a writer your best bet might be Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
If you love video content, your best bet might be Youtube, Tik Tok and Instagram.
For example, an older demographic of clients will probably not be on Instagram and may instead be on LinkedIn and Facebook.
A Gen Y and Z audience will most likely be on Tik Tok.
As the saying goes, “work smarter, not harder”!
Being on multiple platforms and creating content doesn’t have to feel overwhelming.
Here’s how to get started:
Now is not the time to shy away from taking action and being uncomfortable.
Making decisions about growth?is?uncomfortable but leaning into what is going to feel right for you, and putting the steps in motion to create the long-term future that you desire, is key.
