How Much Is Your Weekend Worth?

With work-life balance a focus of many companies and human resources departments, the idea of routine weekend work, emergency calls or emails late at night and last-minute cancellations of dinner plans with friends or family is a topic of debate.

New UK survey data from Reed Recruitment, a job search website, gives some insight into who’s willing to be always on.

The very top earners making ￡100,000 ($126,990) and above and those making the lowest at less than ￡10,000 ($12,699) were the least likely to quit over regularly being contacted outside normal business hours. According to a survey of around 2,000 workers in May, only 28% of each category said they would leave.

At about 50%, workers earnings just below the top amount — ￡80,000 to ￡99,999 ($101,592 to $126,989) annually — were the most likely to consider giving notice over being routinely contacted after hours.
