How much of an influence does your company culture have on your leadership style?

We’re not typically aware of how much influence our company culture has on leadership behaviour and interactions. This can be beneficial or detrimental.??

For example, in some cultures leaders are not always encouraged to help others succeed. Instead, they focus on their own journey, on getting ahead, saying the right thing in meetings, and competing for the next promotion.?

It’s hard to identify this up front – and it happens so fast. You start a new job, and from the beginning seem to be on a need-to-know basis. Leadership?can't clearly explain career paths, or why people do or do not get promoted. Even worse? They don't always?announce promotions, leading to feelings of resentment when promotions are “found out.” As strong as you are, you see so much good in the organization, but?paranoia starts to set in, and?you start looking out for yourself.

But you do have a choice. While you can’t influence the behaviours of others, YOU can lead your team differently - even in that environment.?

What if you were transparent? What if you set the example of being happy for your peers and team by helping them succeed??What if you lifted others UP? What if?you could actually be happy for the person who received the next promotion??

YOU CAN.

Stop worrying about what isn't, and focus instead on what could be.?Your future is in your hands, and within your influence – and maybe even the future of others around you.

YOU can keep things moving forward. YOU can be the impactful leader you want to be.
