How Much Is Enough?

Some years ago, a party was hosted by a hedge fund billionaire on Shelter Island. At the party, Kurt Vonnegut was chatting with fellow writer Joseph Heller. Vonnegut commented to Heller, that their host, the hedge fund manager, had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his wildly popular novel Catch 22 over its whole history. Heller responded:
“Yes, but I have something he will never have . . . Enough.”
This story leads to an important question:
How do you define enough?
Sometimes, people think the answer to this question is an actual number rounded to 2 decimal places.
But, in my experience “enough” is a feeling, not a number.
What would it take for you to feel comfortable and confident that you have enough?
How will you know that you are right?
This is what true wealth management is all about.
