You need to first understand HOW the cost of a website is calculated or WHAT ARE THE FACTORS involved in determining the final cost.
So, if you ask me, what is the cost of a WordPress website?
I am perhaps going to start by saying-
Anyone can download and use WordPress for free.
Now you might be thinking where is the cost coming from then?
The cost of a WordPress site comes from
- Hosting
- Domain Name
- Design
- Plugins and Extensions (Apps)

Web hosting is required to store your files.
A domain name is basically the address of your website. E.g. www.ibusinessformula.com.au is my company's domain name. People use this to reach my website.
In regards to design, you can choose from hundreds of free templates or you can purchase from their premium templates to get more advanced or custom features, but the cost is definitely going to rise in that case.
Plugins are apps and extensions that add new functions to your websites e.g. WooCommerce, SEO, contact forms, social share plugins, etc. You can find more than 54,000 free plugins for WordPress.
So, what I’m saying is-
you can build a website with just the hosting and domain cost. A domain name typically costs $14.99 per year, and web hosting normally costs $7.99 per month.
But then you might have to pay for the additional tools and services, each one of them has a separate cost.
That’s why it’s not easy to figure out the real cost of a WordPress website until you have planned everything out.
Roughly, it might range from $100 to as high as $30,000 or more.
