HOW MUCH DOES CONTENT FOR LED VIDEO WALLS COST?

There are many answers to this question, as there are so many variables. A safe bet for those installing new LED walls would be to reserve 5-10% of the initial capital outlay for new, year one content. I have seen budgets from a few thousand dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars for a single video 1-3 minute video. However, the later figure I have seen deliver projects that have gone wildly viral.

Much of the costs will be dependent on the resolution of the video wall as well as the file format required. For example some playback systems and venues ask for the highest quality video using HAPQ resulting in massive render times and huge files. Others may use .H264 compressed but very efficient. Another significant cost addition is the use of 3D, some of these renders can take weeks to output a minute or two. A single test render can cost several thousand dollars. Smart storyboarding is a good way to mitigate these costs, changes that may seem minuscule may be a significant lift for agencies and artists outputting such content.

Another large potential expense is the type of camera crew being used, as the content maybe very high profile the budgets may mirror that of a high-end commercial or film endeavor. As camera tech and DSLRs improve there are efficiencies here especially with 8K resolutions. The Nikon Z9 can now film 8K 60 fps RAW which is quite impressive. Having purchased and tested this camera myself over the last few months I can say the quality is superb, it's not a RED but it is affordable relatively speaking and requires a lot less crew.

Are there options for those that don't have big advertising or marketing budgets and have displays that are intentionally set as an amenity for the property? Yes some companies including CFIRE (https://www.c-fire.co/) have libraries of licensable bespoke biophilic and artistic content. This is becoming more common with a lot of architects designing these video walls into commercial real estate as an amenity. I love to see these architects deliver biophilic design principles to bring the outdoors in, and convey calm and peace to property guests. #snadisplays, #CFIRE, #nikon Peter Sapienza , Pat Green , Mike Sabia

Great read! There is so much more to this as well. A company could purchase a package of content from a provider, including the CMS and content that acts as a transition or even real-time content that reacts to pedestrians!
