How Much Does Bespoke Software Cost?
Before we start, this Newsletter is written in late November 2024, the numbers used reflect prices at the time of publication. Twice a year we update our bands and estimates to produce a short summary PDF. You can get the latest version by clicking here.
But as we come to the end of the year, it's a good idea to look at software development costs, trends, and what the future may hold.
Introduction
Welcome to our guide to what various categories of software development projects cost in 2024. We originally posted about this on our blog page but as mentioned before the prices and information change all the time so here's an updated version and we produce a new version every 6 months.
Development rates have definitely stabilised over the last 12 months and that is reflected in only small movements in our category bands for the start of 2024.
Future Trends

We think these two factors mean that rates will remain strong but stable for the next year. We will be doing a our usual mid-year update to this guide but right now we think the bands will remain largely the same as they are today.
How to Beat the Price Rises
The best advice we can offer is if you can see a need for bespoke development over the next few years then you should lock in the project with your developer as soon as possible.
Our analysis as of 2024:
