I have been following many posts here on LinkedIn of professionals who were fired coz of the pandemic situation. I understand that it is a difficult situation and I have also been through this and I also don't know anything about the future, I may be next in this situation, so I feel empathy.
At the exact moment that we are fired, we have millions of questions in our heads and usually the first question we ask to ourselves is, "Now what?"
It's common to worry about the obligations we usually honor, after all the world we live in is very bureaucratic, and with a job, let's say that it is easier "to have control of the situation”, but I strongly believe that there is a purpose for everything, including "lost" our job, even if we don't know: “Why ME?” Who has never asked that question?
In life we will all go through complex situations and we will have to learn to face / to mold ourselves. I went through several transitions, hard situations but I learned so many things. I felt me confused sometimes and I imagined myself unable to do things, but I did.
The truth is that NOTHING IS STABLE and life is based on the principle of movement, so many things / people change places, including us. And the truth is within us along with our ability to overcome us. There are techniques that help us, there is therapy and so many other important tools, but above all I believe that TRUSTING YOURSELF is the greatest of them. And we do what has to be done, even if the path is not easy, but we can get up and go to the fight.
I am not a great example of success, I do not consider myself a professional master, but I have had many experiences on my way and I like to encourage people.
This photo that I published refers to the scene in the movie: “Up in the Air” that tells the story of Ryan (George Clooney) who is a professional hired by companies to fire people and this scene caught my attention a lot: When the employee asks about be fired, Ryan debates talking about the dream, the dream that the professional had hidden for years and asks him: “HOW MUCH DID THEY FIRST PAY YPU TO GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS?".
Be fired is a bad process but I have seen many cases of people who totally changed their lives through after that, they rediscovered themselves: they rediscovered themselves in something new or they simply rediscovered themselves stronger.
Sending too many resumes and not being called is bad, participating in many job interviews and not being called is frustrating, the crisis is also bad. The pandemic is very bad, because we are talking about lives here, but there are only 2 alternatives: 1 - sit down and to cry, or 2- get up and fight. This is the attitude of winning people, people who have an attitude.
Getting fired IS NOT a failure. When a company breaks down it IS NOT a failure.
Failure is fighting with the universe and doing nothing!
I have felt powerless many times in my life and I confess that sometimes I still do, but I always learn lessons from all situations and my goal has always been to reinvent myself.
If you are a professional, looking for answers, I tell you: they are inside you! In your ability to rise up and to believe : I CAN!
Being fired cannot kill your dreams!!!
Be patient in the crisis, feed your mind with good thoughts, read a book, act. Recreate yourself, but please NEVER GIVE UP ON YOU!
A hug to friends who are strong and never lower their heads! You have a lot to teach me!
