How Much Can A High-Ticket Closer Make?

How Much Can A High-Ticket Closer Make?

Being a high ticket closer is the next “best thing” online.?

Gurus from around the web claim you can make $10,000, $20,000, and even $50,000+ monthly. The catch? You need to buy their course for $10,000+.?

Jokes aside - can you actually make this type of money as a sale closer??

As a sales recruiter, I can confidently say you can make a VERY good salary as a high ticket closer. However, you need to be VERY good at sales, which is remarkably difficult.?

Salary of a High Ticket Closer?

According to Zip Recruiter, it’s $16.93 an hour (around $35,000 annually); on Glassdoor, it’s $132,946 annually (around $60 an hour).?

So, which one is it??

Well, it’s most probably both. Putting an average salary on a high ticket closer is so hard. There are so many factors that determine a salary in this job role.?

Yes, you’ll have some high-ticket sale closers earning $16.93 an hour. Typically, the more inexperienced ones. However, you’ll also have high-ticket closers earning $60+ an hour.?

From personal experience, I would suggest that the minimum salary of a high tick sales closer is around $52,000 (around $25/hour) - the minimum.?

Why? Well, a “good” company should provide their closers with a commission around a $1,000 payout and a 7-day sale cycle, which equals an annual wage of $52,000.?

What Affects a High-Ticket Closer's Salary?

As you can see, there isn’t a set salary for a high ticket closer. So, what affects their salary??

  1. Experience?

Anybody can get a sales job. Some low-level sales jobs don’t require a degree or any experience whatsoever.?

Because of this, anybody thinks they can do sales. However, in reality, only 5-10 percent of people can.?

This inexperience can cost you $1,000’s every year. You’ll likely be getting a commission, so for every close you miss because of inexperience is money lost in your salary.?

  1. Commission Rate?

Will you get salary + commission or straight, 100% commission? This will also impact how much you get paid.?

A salary + commission is exactly what it sounds like. You get a base salary plus a commission on sales. Usually, you get a high salary and a low commission rate, or a low salary and a high commission rate - you may even have an earning cap on your commission.?

With 100% commission, well, you only earn when you sell. Usually, you have a high commission rate and unlimited earning potential.?

Depending on your experience, one option may be better than the other - which will have an impact on your yearly salary.?

  1. Product/Service Price?

Having an 80% commission rate is great. However, if you’re selling a product for $200 with a 7-day sales cycle, you won’t get too far.?

You need a product/service price that gives you a minimum of $1,000 per sale. I also tell recruiters who are looking for commission-only closers that this is a benchmark.??

A $1,000 commission with a decent sales cycle of about a week is superb - especially for newer sales closers. This gives a reliable salary while earning experience.?

  1. Sales Cycle Length?

Ideally, a sale cycle length of 7 days is good for sales with a commission of $1,000. However, if the sales cycle is 14 days, a $2,000 commission is also good - you want it to be a minimum of $1,000 a week.?

If you have a longer sales cycle, let’s say 14 days for a $1,000 commission, it’s only $500 a week. For anybody, regardless of experience, this isn’t quite enough.?

  1. Lead Gen System?

Next, you need leads. The company’s lead generation team should provide this to you so you can focus on your job - closing.?

They should have a steady flow of warm leads ready to convert. It’s hard to put a number on this, but about 15 leads a week is good for closers for the most part.?

If, for whatever reason, the company you work for cannot fill your calendar with leads and meetings, it’ll have a direct impact on your salary.?

What to Look for in a High-Ticket Closer Job

Without question, a lot can affect a high ticket closer salary - the company being a big one.

Therefore, here are 5 things to look for in a high-ticket closer job that pays well:?

  1. Product/Service Quality?

First, your product or service must be of quality to the target audience - it must benefit their life, business, etc.?

Most leads for closers are already interested in the product or service. All they need to do is sell it. If the product/service is of quality, it makes the selling process 10x easier.?

  1. Compensation & Benefits?

Next, salary + commission (with or without cap) and 100% commission will impact your salary. You need to find something you feel confident in and something that makes sense. Plus, extra benefits like paid travel are important.?

  1. Leads & Marketing?

You’re a closer, so leads should be provided. You also shouldn’t need to do any marketing. You should only be doing the closing. Anything else just takes your concentration from the end goal.

  1. Available Tools?

Does the company have CRM systems? Do they have sales enablement tools? These are all things a good high-ticket sales job should provide.?

  1. Training?

The company you go with should also provide ongoing training. Training in the service/product, sales training, industry training, and so forth. They should invest in you so you and they have the best possible outcome.?

Conclusion?

As you can see, there isn’t a one-salary-suits-all for high ticket closers. It depends on many factors controlled by the closer and the business they work for.?

Yes, closers earn more money. My 22-year-old son has worked in telesales for three months and yet he’s in the top 10 in the world out of 300 telesales people. Why? Because he closes more deals.
