How much attention do you want this to?cost?
After two years of being warned by friends of its inevitability, a small rock finally hit and chipped my windshield on the freeway.?
It was painful to witness, especially as concerns about safety and how much it might cost to repair started to arise (yes, I might have overreacted).?
The distressing part of the event really wasn’t the chip itself though, it was the sheer amount of attention I’d suddenly shifted towards it.?
This is a helpful distinction because while I can’t do anything about the chip?—?at least not immediately?—?I can modulate my attention.?
The moment I accept the situation and its ramifications, the only question left is: how much more attention do I want to pay to this??
Or better yet: how much more attention do I want this situation to cost me??
There are a million things you can choose to pay attention to at any given moment.?
Some things are worth the price because they create progress and make you feel better. Some things, offering neither, simply aren’t.?
