How much alcohol is good for health???
Till recent times, taking alcohol in moderate quantity was considered to beneficial to health, especially for heart and other organs. Though the quantity for the word 'moderate' was never defined, nevertheless, the advocates of alcohols quoted, some research and studies
But then a recent release from WHO - the world health organization has stated that no amount of alcohol is good for health.?
The risk from alcohol starts not from first glass, not from first gulp but from the first drop.?
For those who support drinking for health benefits, there are many other ways to do so such as taking fruits, healthy diets
Now , if we analyze, the problem doesn't end with this.?We have been fed so many information validated from so called studies only to be refuted later or updated later by another set of studies.?
In the above case, the Vedic scriptures especially Srimad Bhagavatam and Srimad Bhagavad Gita advocated no intoxication including no alcohol. There was never an update to this. The Vedic literatures were firm in their conviction for hundred and thousands of years. But followers of them were being ridiculed. But now WHO is agreeing with this conclusion.
The reason is, modern research consists of four defects.
1. Tendency to commit mistakes
2. Tendency to cheat
3. Tendency to be illusioned
4. Imperfect senses?
For example, the research might not have sufficient data sets. The researcher might want to advocate his own version
To give another example the Vedic literatures talk about ill effects of gambling.
We keep hearing news more often than before that people committing suicide due to losses in gambling and so not able to pay back their loans. People have fallen into deep depression also due to gambling. Many families have broken due to the ill effects of gambling.?
Still people take to gambling as they get allured by the advertisements and the sweet talks of the influential brand ambassadors and don't take the advice of Bhagavad Gita seriously.
Same is the case with all other information and instructions from the Vedic literatures.
The problem is we tend to accept only those knowledge derived from ascending process and not the knowledge derived from descending process.

Ascending process of knowledge is that knowledge which we can analyze and verify with our gross senses
This ascending knowledge has the defects that have been mentioned above.
On the other hand, the descending knowledge is not like this. It has no such defects as the knowledge comes from a superior authority who is free from all such defects.??
Even if someone doubts the immediate deliverer of the descending knowledge, it can still be accepted since the knowledge is not modified just like a postman only delivers the letter and doesn't modify the contents of the letter.
Now one may deny to follow an authority. But then, in this world everyone follows an authority and accepts descending knowledge without them realizing it.
For example, when we study the speed of light to be such and such from our school teachers, we accept it based on the authority of the teachers, textbooks and the authors. We never verified it with our gross and subtle senses.
We can quote many such examples.
Same way, there are many Vedic authorities beginning with Lord Krishna himself and includes all bona fide acharyas such as Madhvacharya, Ramanujacharya, etc. Including our beloved spiritual master HDG A C Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada.
Why only these authorities and not some one else.
Just as no one can be a better authority of a mobile phone than the manufacturer of that mobile phone, no can be a better authority of a novel than the author of the novel, same way who can be a better authority of this world and the functioning of this world including the living entities and non living entities other than the supreme and primary creator Lord Sri Krishna.
The next question could be how to know if Lord Krishna is a bona fide authority or not.
Just as to verify a chemical equation, we follow the process given such as temperature, proportion, time, etc. to produce a resultant chemical and when ot works, we can say for sure that the scientist and the process he invented or discovered is authentic, same way, when we follow the prescribed rules and regulations, we can for sure verify the authority and authenticity of Lord Sri Krishna, his teachings and the spiritual masters recognized and authorized by him.
The primary and the simple most process is to chant
"HARE KRISHNA HARE KRISHNA
?KRISHNA KRISHNA HARE HARE
?HARE RAMA HARE RAMA
?RAMA RAMA HARE HARE"?
?With faith and conviction?
at least 108 times daily and see the results for yourself within a short period of time.

1 年One doubt, you have mentioned "the Vedic scriptures especially Srimad Bhagavatam and Srimad Bhagavad Gita advocated no intoxication including no alcohol". Can you please point out where in the Bhagavad Gita it is mentioned to avoid alcohol?
