How to be more productive in those tight times?

The question is, reduce working days or finding ways to reduce stress?

?

Last month I have been with my colleagues at Fruit Logistica Berlin that is the most important F&V trade show of Europe, personally I think that at some point will be replace by Fruit Attraction in Madrid since from my point of view, in Madrid,?the weather is better and at the show we have more comfort and it’s a great time to have fruitful meetings with customers, suppliers, potential customers and why not, old friends; but the fatigue of those days comes immediately and we have to keep going and continue smiling as nothing is happening.

? I′m staring this article speaking about the tradeshows because I think are the most important days for my field and the field of at least 90% of my followers.

We have a 24/7 job, where so many people sometimes don’t even think before to call or send a message that is a weekend or we are during our free time spending time with relatives, friends or simply ourselves that is plenty important to relax and clean a little bit our mind from the stress that we have been feeling the whole week. Nowadays for people who are living in Europe, the general situation of fresh food has been affected in terms of stocks and production, for so many different reasons. We have been reading and watching on news so many articles and pictures of the situation of supermarkets in UK and Germany, and it makes us worried since at least, I have thought... could it happen in this side of Europe? Then I remember that companies as the company I work for, always take the necessary cautions to supply their regular customers and workers… Thank God.

But I started speaking about it, just to take you all to the point of imagine how much stress we deal with every day... to make sure that everything that is necessary is done to keep customer satisfaction, from growers to the CEO.

Then, is trendy to speak about reduction of working days. In my own opinion I don’t agree, at least on this field I believe it′s impossible, because never is enough; but we need to find the way to take time for ourselves, the maybe my readers think: easy to speak about but how?

In my case I started just to don’t answering my phone, LinkedIn messages or e-mails during weekends or after 19 hrs, because I find it unrespectful. When I need to write to someone in Saudi Arabia or Brazil, I easily go to google and look for the time in those countries… It′s called empathy and education.

Also, around a time ago I started to have classes of Pilates… twice a week I have an hour to disconnect from the world because I have my mind, my body and my soul on my class…So, you just need to find something that you enjoy and makes you feel satisfied, for me it took more than 3 years to find some kind of activity that makes me feel relaxed and keep my mind blinded for an hour to feel the next days that I’m weightless in terms of mind/stress/body and as a consequence I become more productive person. But could be gym, dance, yoga, meditation or whatever that help you. Maybe there is not easy for all of us to adopt effective coping strategies to reduce stress but just arriving home and using the stairs instead the elevator could make you produce endorphins, work stress has significant health consequences that range from relatively benign (like getting more colds and flus) to potentially serious (such as heart disease and metabolic syndrome).

So, I invite you all to give me your opinion about what could be better for our balance: Reduce working days or work with the resources we have on our hands? I choose the second one, but I would love to get insights from you all.

Don′t forget that always the best skill is a positive attitude, so, keep smiling.

? Have a nice and fruitful week.

? As always, with love.

I strongly believe that we need to tackle both of these issues head-on. Achieving a healthy work-life balance is crucial to spending quality time with our loved ones and enjoying the fruits of our labor. But let's not forget that practicing stress-reduction techniques can also help us become more productive and eliminate the need for overtime hours. It's no secret that focusing for four hours a day can yield better results than the gruelling 996 schedule so common in China's IT industry. Workers are expected to toil 12 hours a day, six days a week! But the difference is striking if we compare their productivity and the quality of their products and services to some European companies with five-day weeks and shorter working hours. Take the famous scientist Charles Darwin, for example. His groundbreaking work on evolution could fill a library, yet he never worked more than four hours a day. He understood the importance of a balanced life, stopping to savour all its pleasures. And in those four focused hours, he achieved amazing productivity and sharp results.

Is perfect..very good
