Open any website and it’s almost guaranteed you’ll see an article about generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) programs. But what is AI, exactly? Most importantly, as a business owner, how can you harness the tools available? In this article, we discuss the concept of AI, shedding light on its practical applications and how to use it effectively in a business setting.
We asked Bing’s chat function what the definition of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is, and received the answer, “Generative artificial intelligence is a type of artificial intelligence technology that broadly describes machine learning systems capable of generating text, images, code or other types of content, in response to a prompt entered by a user.”
Tomer Warschauer Nuni writes for Forbes.com, “Embracing AI has the potential to catalyze growth, enhance operational efficiency and transform both customer experience and the business model.”
So where do we go from here? Establish clear goals before adopting AI into your business and look to work with AI experts. ChatGPT is unarguably the most utilized generative AI program, with the ability to provide everything from email templates to debugging code. So how do you write an effective prompt for ChatGPT? Most importantly, writing an effective prompt comes down to specific details. One simple way to write a prompt is by writing using the Eisenhower Decision Matrix, outlined below.
For example, we could write a prompt using quadrant three by using the prompt, “I often find myself caught up in meetings and emails throughout the day, leaving little time for focused work. How can I better handle these immediate demands while still making progress on meaningful tasks?”
In addition to ChatGPT, AI applications for note taking, such as Otter.ai, can be used to transcribe speech into written text. Cipher, on the other hand, captures content from various sources and organizes it into actionable notes. As business professionals, automating this essential but time-consuming task can help free time to complete additional tasks.
