How to mitigate power interruptions?
A persistent fact of real life for companies and institutions in Brazil: unplanned interruptions in the supply of electricity.
These interruptions are WAY above the regulatory limit (which, in order of magnitude, is 20 hours/year).
Medium and large industrial & commercial clients, whom I served by providing consultancy in the energy area, reported to me multiple interruptions above the regulatory limit hours.
They asked me what to do! My answer comes from my experience in decades of consulting. Waiting for the electricity sector value chain (generation, transmission and distribution) to respect the regulatory limit is only but a dream.
And the recommendation I always present is to have a local generation available to face this challenge.
The viability of this suggestion depends, of course, on the losses incurred with the expected lack of energy each year and the investment required to have distributed generation with the appropriate specification.
It will certainly be worth considering this alternative!
