“Imagine you wake up tomorrow, and overnight, a miracle happened. All your problems have disappeared. What would be different in your life? What would you notice first?”
"What is a miracle question?" It's an important tool used in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) used in counselling sessions. This helps you imagine a future when the current problem you are facing, no longer exists!
"How will this help me?"
A Positive Mind: The miracle question shifts focus from problems to solutions. What would your life would look like if your issues were resolved? This can break negative thinking patterns that lead to a downward spiral.
Clearer Goals: By imagining your ideal outcome, you become clearer on what you really want. This can help in setting realistic goals that you set based on your needs instead of copying other people's goals that don't align with what you want.
Self-Reflection: Helps you think about what small, practical changes you can make to work towards that "miracle" scenario. This reflection makes you self-aware and shows you that making changes are in your hands.
No Pressure: Since the question is hypothetical (what if), it reduces the pressure one feels when addressing difficult issues or situations.
