Kierkegaard said “Life can only be understood backward; but it must be lived forward.” It means we should be responsible for our words or action but it should not be detrimental for our Growth. We need to utilize every opportunity to learn from our mistakes.
When we are young and busy with host of actions chasing our goals & hence left with very little time to regret. While we grow old, the process of life slows down & usually we concentrate on our deeds & also unction’s. Regrets are inevitable but remain center of inaction. It is found that people on death bed invariably have regrets, dominantly on things they could not do it. Regrets are definitely part of the life. ?
It is here we need to adopt Jeff Bezos formula, “regret minimization framework or formula” to minimize the regrets in life. This means when we are taking decision, we must project self, in future, & look back at decision and ask question will I regret on this decision & act accordingly. Definitely it calls for honesty, imagination & introspection. Bezos says he was caught up in dilemma to remain status quo or to come out of comfort zone & enter into untraced & uncertain world of startup. ?It is the startup which turned into present Amazon.
Regrets are inevitable but often inaction which takes center stage. It is the regret minimization framework encourages projecting in future to assess & eliminate potential regret before making a decision. ?While reflection is important dwelling on past choices made hinders growth; learnings from regrets & moving forward is the key
