How to minimize the duration of your disease
When I was a kid there was one rule regarding being sick enough to stay home from school; you had to stay in bed all day long!
No TV, no radio, no talking with your friends on the phone.
Basically, no nothing! Except that you were allowed to read.
In a normal year I was sick once, maybe twice, and never more than two days in a row. Simply because the punishment was so severe that I preferred to go to school instead of being sick.
I might not have particularly liked my fathers “treatment” when I was a kid, yet I now admire it for its efficiency.
Writing my Ph.D. I came across many different disciplines that are mostly not an integrated aspect of the work of the HR department.
One of them were fasting.
I still have to discover a domain of life where fasting doesn’t help, like boosting brain power https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UkZAwKoCP8, losing weight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHQbg4xH9lw; including in shortening the duration of disease.
Some years ago a medic told me that the human being is the only animal that eats when it is sick and that doing so prolongs the duration of the disease, because somehow the food also nourishes or energizes, the disease and thus it lasts longer.
Thus I have integrated the aspect of fasting to my father’s treatment, and I have to admit that the results are to my liking.
Most of my adult life I’ve had a cold or two every winter, mostly lasting somewhere between a week or two from I started feeling the symptoms till I was functioning on full power again.
Now that I combine staying in bed with fasting I have been able to diminish it to a day or two. Three times this winter I even managed to cure it overnight simply by stopping eating or drinking anything but water the moment I noticed that I was starting to feel bad, combined with going home in bed as soon as I could given my work obligations.
I believe that we all wish to be healthy, and to the best of my knowledge, fasting is a cheap and efficient way to obtain that.
P.S. Obviously you need to have common sense regarding fasting. With fasting, I understand to eat nothing and to drink only water. This is known as black fasting. A general introduction to the concept of fasting that I recommend is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5sA18TzHM0
The homepage https://www.allaboutfasting.com/ also seems to offer a lot of valuable information that will benefit you if you decide to give fasting a go.
