How to migrate WordPress website?

Preparing for migration

1. We get wp-admin access to the site and the hosting panel.?

2. Install the All in One WP Migration plugin on the production site, select the Import tab, and see what the maximum file size is now set to

3. Install the same plugin on our dev site, select Export ? Export To ? File, and wait until the plugin prepares the archive

4. Compare the size of the archive with the maximum file size value on the production website, it should be at least 10% larger than the archive size. If the archive is larger than the file size value, then perform one of the following steps:

• If you have access to the hosting panel, change the .htaccess file according to the instructions https://help.servmask.com/2018/10/27/how-to-increase-maximum-upload-file-size-in-wordpress/
• If you do not have access to the hosting panel at the time of creating the archive for migration, disable the addition of plugins to the archive, after migration, install them manually

• If the absence of plugins in the archive did not reduce its size sufficiently, then disable the uploads folder and then upload it manually, via FTP (SFTP) access, that you have received.

Migration

1. We write down the accesses to the admin panel on the current website separately, after migration, they will be the same on the production website.
2. Create a migration file according to the instructions above.?
3. In the hosting panel, back up the entire site (account) and download the archive locally to your computer.?
4. Only after the backup is available, go to the production admin panel, go to the All in One plugin import section, and select the file that was downloaded from the site's devs
5. Wait until the file is uploaded to the admin panel, agree with everything that the plugin writes, and wait for it to complete without closing the browser window.
6. If the migration took place without plugins, go to the Plugins section and install all the necessary plugins (see which ones are on the site).
7. If the migration took place without assets (uploads folder), go to the project directory via FTP and transfer the uploads folder from the host site to the production.
8. After the migration is complete, log out of the admin panel, and log in with the new accesses that we took from the developer's website. Go to the Settings ? Permalinks section and click the Save button
9. Visually check if everything is ok. If there are no problems,? we test the work of all links, the absence of broken images, etc.
