How might we flip the Altas of Impunity into the Altas of Equity Governance?

How might we flip the Altas of Impunity into the Altas of Equity Governance?

Why is the Altas of Impunity inadequate?

A study of wicked problems does not necessarily frame the solutions. A reductionist diagnosis does not enable the development of catalytic innovations needed to solve our complex web of mostly self-inflicted wicked problems in the 21st-century.

This?report assessed the global abuse of national power across five domains.

  • Unaccountable governance
  • Abuse of human rights
  • Economic exploitation
  • Conflict and violence
  • Environmental degradation?

"Impunity is the exercise of power without accountability, which becomes, in its starkest form, the commission of crimes without punishment. In a phrase, impunity is the idea that “the law is for suckers,” a notion that human rights leaders fear is on the rise in political institutions around the world. From behaviour in conflict to economic exploitation, and environmental degradation to democratic backsliding, the battle between impunity and accountability is a critical lens for understanding what is happening worldwide." How might we move beyond reductionist framing of wicked problems?

The five domains represent a reductionist framing criteria that oversimplifies our complex web of mostly self-inflicted problems in the 21st-century.

Our inter-connected and interdependent problems include: the failures of our leadership, academic, educational and religious institutions to scale up the cultivation of virtues and a broad array of skills needed to solve our wicked problems, politicians with asocial leadershio personality disorders (pathological megalomania, narcissistic narcissism, incessant sociopathy and autocratic authoritarianism), inept governance, unethical stewardship, incompetent leadership, neoliberal linear economics, shareholder capitalism, political, financial and legal corruption, kleptocracy, exploitative extractions of finite resources, hyper-consumerism, mass waste production, non-sustainable growth, non-regenerative practices, global warming, human rights abuses, precipitous decline in biodiversity and wild animal populations, isms and inequities.

Where is the Atlas of Equity Governance?

Equity is about being kind and fair to everyone. Equity goes beyond equality.

Equity is about giving each person, according to their individual needs, the opportunities to strive and thrive to their highest potential of healthy well-being.

Equity involves enabling people to cultivate the virtues needed to launch Equity Moonshot.

Equity moonshot is a humanitarian–technological metaphor for scaling up synergies between collaborative and transformational learning needed to solve our wicked problems.

  • How might we use cultural humility to flip from the Altas of Impunity to the Altas of Equity Governance?

Equity governance is about co-constructing what are fair rules, fair games and fair plays needed to assure fair opportunities to benefit all.?

This aspiration calls for aligning our north stars of virtues to launch equity moonshot.

  • How might we ask the most pertinent Big Hairy Audacious Questions (BHAQs) to change our trajectory towards a dystopian future?

The advances in machine learning, AI, such as Chat GPT-3 and the metaverse show promise on how we might exponentially deploy learning platforms to dialogue and address BHAQs.

How might we:

  • Harness the ethical power of deploying our non-hierarchical constellation of virtues to co-create a fair-free-flourishing-future to benefit all?
  • Launch a "Marshall plan" of aligning our leadership, academic, educational and religious institutions to scale up how we can cultivate the virtues (such as love, equanimity, transcendence, truth-seeking and the pursuit of equity) and a broad array of skills needed to solve a complex web of wicked problems in the 21st-century?
  • Co-create and develop equity goverance, ethical stewardship and empowering distributive leadership networks to launch Equity Moonshot?
  • Adopt a holistic integrated approach to living with and in harmony with nature to optimize the well-being of all and to restore the health of planet?
  • Shift beyond our war and sports metaphors to humanistic, ecological biomimicry ones that enable us to transform our war-mongering military industrial complex to peace-based integrated enterprises that build launching pads for Equity Moonshot?

Teach personal responsibility and industry. See people as individuals. Stop categorizing. Have reverence for life and life-giving processes. Keep governance groups small enough that people can know and care about each other. Use centralization only at the most local levels.

Yes, if we are to change hearts and minds we must think big, but work 1:1 as you do, Rick.
