How about Mental Health Day....Everyday

I say one of the first steps to ending the stigma to mental health is to make everyday mental Health Day.

I have had a long term relationship with anxiety for several years now, and I am fortunate to have eventually been introduced to mindfulness-based meditation.

I have been on a 4-5 year journey with my meditation practice now, and will probably only need another 40 years or so before I become any good at it.  (Seriously, im pretty awful.)

With that said...

One of the most rewarding accomplishments I recently achieved wasn't a professional achievement or business accolade. It was an investment in my own mental health.

I recently completed an 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Course held by FLORIDA COMMUNITY OF MINDFULNESS, INC.

While I wish there was a magic bullet or one size fits all answer for overcoming mental health struggles. It is heartening to see the paradigm shift that is happening in our culture and community around this taboo topic.

The reality of it is that mental health affects nearly 1 out of 2 adults in their life.

We must continue to push this conversation and ensure we are all investing in our mental health and leveraging the extensive resources that are at our disposal. We owe it to ourselves, our families, our friends, our businesses, our employees and our colleagues.

I will end my post with one of my favorite quotes on mindfulness:

"The present moment is filled with joy and happiness. If you are attentive, you will see it."
