How to Maximize Your Day and Get More Done

Are you tired of feeling like you never have enough time in the day to get everything done? Trust me, we've unfortunately all been there.?

We’ve gathered a few top tips from some of our 10th House members and industry leaders to implement into your daily routine to help you maximize your productivity and take back control of your time.?

Set Realistic Goals and Manage Expectations: Not only for yourself as a founder but also for your team. Rachel Pereyra of Mastermind Business Services says, “Remember that not everyone works the way you do, gather buy-in from your team on deadlines when at all possible. If you are regularly communicating with your people (family, clients, and team) then working through the unexpected becomes a group thing vs a just-you problem.”. You can also leverage management apps like?Asana?or?Monday.com, where you can build teams and projects to track goals and project timelines.

Time Blocking:??“Work on the most important and MUST finish items first thing in the morning. I don’t schedule meetings until after 10 am – Until 10 am, I am knocking out the ust-do projects and try to do meetings after lunch,” says Danielle Monogue of DZM Retail Consulting. Mira Katz takes time blocking even further, recommending that you “time block work time, and time block everything else that matters to you too: exercise, self-care, etc.” Time blocking helps you manage your time more effectively by providing structure, prioritization, and accountability, which can ultimately lead to increased productivity and better work-life balance.

Learn to Say No?- Kirsten Schmidtke of Kirsten Schmidtke Coaching & Consulting recommends, “Look at your calendar and ask yourself: What is one thing in the next week that I could say no to? As overachievers and people pleasers, female founders have the propensity to say yes to everything. Remember:?when you say yes to something, you say no to something else.” By learning to say no to things that are not aligned with our goals or priorities, we can prioritize and allocate our time more effectively towards the things that matter most to us. This can help us achieve our goals, reduce stress and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Say Goodbye to the Time Wasters:??Common time-wasters like, “working with Netflix or YouTube in the background & planning social media content through the apps,” can derail your focus and productivity, says Casika Rosas of Casika Rosas LLC, who goes on to suggest to “use a scheduler so you don’t get sucked into scrolling”. Using social media scheduling apps like?Hootsuite?allows you to set it and forget it so you don’t waste time scrolling through social media.

Track Your Progress:?“Audit your calendar. What do you spend most of your time doing? If there's a task you do because ‘it's just easier if you do it’, record yourself doing it so you know how much time it actually takes AND then you have the recording to share with someone else who can take it off your plate.” says Luisa Alberto of People First Finance. Mira Katz also recommends tracking progress with “a paper agenda and crossing things off with a HIGHLIGHTER when you do them, and crossing it off with a pen when you don't. Over the week, you'll see your pages get brighter as you get better at planning your days.”
