How MAST provides U.S. Navy with critical mission insights

The U.S. Navy has always played a critical role in protecting the world’s maritime system. The four naval shipyards in Norfolk, Pearl Harbor, Portsmouth and Puget Sound keep the fleet in working order and safeguard our nation. These shipyards provide maintenance, modernization, and emergency repairs, primarily for the Navy’s nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and submarines. ?

When it comes to maintenance of these national assets, every day counts. Shipyards need to capture as much data as possible to maintain strict project timelines. If maintenance availability milestones are missed, the downstream consequences can negatively impact operational commitments and, ultimately, our national security.?

FTI is working closely with the Naval Ship Maintenance Community to centralize isolated data entry methods into one predictive analytics model. FTI’s MAST (Maintenance Availability Status Tool) software allows leadership at NAVSEA, naval shipyards, and the deck plate stay on top of complex project plans. Core capabilities of MAST include:?

  • PREDICTIVE ANALYTICS: Utilizing predictive modeling and machine learning techniques, MAST analyzes a wide range of data related to naval ship and submarine maintenance. MAST encompasses both current and historic records to forecast future events and trends, providing actionable insights that empower NAVSEA Community leadership in making informed decisions. As a result, our customers’ operational capabilities are postured for an unpredictable future.?
  • ENTERPRISE SCALABILITY: MAST is a rapidly scalable solution that can accommodate increasing demand without compromising performance or user experience for the Naval Ship Maintenance Community. It is built on a versatile platform that seamlessly integrates and extends its tools and technologies. Our customers can use this platform as a standalone solution or as a complementary capability integrated into existing systems.?
  • VISUALIZED AND CONTROLLED ACCESS: MAST can be utilized across facilities and personnel, with customized access and views based on each role, from flag officers to deck hand workers. Project teams leverage the platform to conduct daily drumbeat routines and assess shipyards’ overall health, among many other real-time insights. As one centralized tool, MAST provides agility and reliability to support our customers’ missions and ensure an expedited, expanded advantage in concert with their campaign plans.?
  • STANDARDIZATION: MAST enhances consistency in tracking and planning maintenance availabilities across naval shipyards, improving productivity, eliminating confusion, and increasing resource efficiency in the naval maintenance community.?

Designed by FTI in partnership with Naval Ship Maintenance Community stakeholders, MAST provides insights into critical mission needs. When our maritime customers have confidence in their data, they are better equipped to deliver combat-ready carriers, submarines and systems.?
