How many times do you say thank you?
How many times a day do we reflect and say "thank you" for the wonderful things that surround us?
You're probably wondering why I have written this article, but often enough in Happiness discussions I hear the question "Are we grateful and thankful for the things that surround us and make up your daily life and experiences?"
There are many ways for us to maintain a Happier and Healthier lifestyle and to feel individual fulfillment and success on a daily basis. Let's take a look at how we begin our day first thing in the morning; how often do we wake up and say thank you for that lovely sleep now I'm going to go about my day smiling and grateful.
"How often do we walk down the street or enter a public place and say good morning to total stranger with a big smile on our face"
How often do you choose to wake up and take a positive approach to life? Research suggests positive emotions like gratitude, laughter, smiles and joy are all aspects that contribute to your daily Happiness and Wellbeing. Whether you're waking up at 5:00am or 8:00am to work a long shift, take the kids to school or run your own enterprise wake up and make a difference. Wake up and say thank you for the car your driving, the children or family around you, the business or place of work.
We should accept and be comfortable with who we are and what we have accomplished. No one in this life is perfect and we often compare ourselves to others around us. We should be kind to yourself and others, as we increase the positive emotions in our lives, our resilience becomes stronger resulting in greater health and happier days.
Try making an extra effort to thank someone more often, to say hello or good morning with a big smile to those strangers or new faces. They say smiling is contagious so wake up with a smile, say thank you more and try to be part of something bigger in this world.
"Be that change you want to see in the world" - Ghandi
Tips for a Positive start to the day
1.) How about you wake up tomorrow and try saying "Hi", or "good morning" to five (5) new faces with a big smile on your face, you will notice yourself smiling too.
2.) Every night before you go to sleep take a piece or paper or use the "notes" app in your mobile. Just write down five (5) things that you can be thankful for today, maybe that's your lunch, completion of a project at work, a nice comment from a colleague or friend, or 30 the minutes gym class you were able to attend. What ever is it that made your day... write it down and say thank you.
Thank you for reading and sharing this experience with me, its my first time writing an article here on LinkedIn and hopefully not the last.
Regards
Nailah

7 年Very true Nailah AlJasmi! Unfortunately, we take many things for granted and forget appreciating them - a little bit of conscious gratitude often goes a long way!
