How many steps of Fiber Blowing Solution?

How can use fiber blowing solution in real fiber cable installation? The fiber blowing solution process involves a series of steps and considerations to ensure efficient and effective installation of fiber optic cables. Here’s a detailed based on the latest information:

① Site Survey

② Microduct Selection

③ Microduct Installation

④ Microduct Joint & Branch & Sealing

⑤ Micro Cable Blowing

⑥ Splice & Test

⑦ Maintenance & Network Expansion

Step 1: We need to do site survey by detector, conduct a thorough site survey to determine the optimal route for the microducts. This involves assessing the existing infrastructure, identifying any obstacles, and planning the cable routing.

Step 2: Choose the microducts based on the cable specifications and the environment in which they will be installed.

There are so many different kinds of choice of microduct, you can choose different diameter and holes base on the project.

Choose the microducts based on the cable specifications and the environment in which they will be installed

Attention: Different size of fiber cable will suitable for different size of microduct, here is a micro-cable to micro-tube diameter matching table for your reference.

How can we know if the microduct diameter will suitable for the fiber cable which we will use? Normally, It is appropriate for the fiber optic cable to occupy 60% to 80% of the inner space of the duct.

Step 3: Microduct Installation.

There are 4 primary methods for opening the ground and laying microduct:

1. Excavation(Direct In-Ground Installation)

2. Micro Trenching

3. Mole Plow Installation

4. Horizontal Directional Drilling(HDD)

And the depth for laying microduct underground is depends on the location and specific requirements. Here are some general guidelines:

1. Green areas and pavements: The depth should be at least 0.35 meters.

2. Driving areas: The depth should be at least 0.55 meters.

3. Areas with ground frost: The trench should be 0.7 meters deep or more.

4. Cultivated areas: The depth should be at least 0.8 meters

It is always important to check with the network owner or local regulations.

The areas where there are no significant obstacles and when laying long stretches of duct in open field or less congested areas allows to use excavation

Use micro trenching in the Urban Areas allows the installation of fiber optic cables and small conduits with minimal impact on roads and sidewalk; and use in areas with existing infrastructure where traditional trenching would be too disruptive or costly. It can be done quickly and with less heavy equipment.

Mole Plow Installation is best suited for open fields, farms, and rural areas where the terrain is relatively flat and free of large obstacles. It can quickly install pipes and cables over long distances

For more complex installations, horizontal directional drilling can be used to install microducts without extensive excavation.

Step 4: Will be microduct joint, branch and sealing,

Follow specific guidelines for joining microducts, ensuring proper alignment and secure connections. And use sealing plugs to cover both ends of the microducts to prevent contamination from water or dirt.

Step 5: Fiber cable blowing, once the pipeline is ready, we should do 2 extra things before blowing fiber cable into duct: set up blowing equipments, cleaning microducts.

There are some equipments should be set up before blowing fiber cable: fiber blowing machine, air compressor, fiber optic cable, cable blowing lubricant and all the accessories for fiber blowing.

Clean the microduct to ensure the duct condition is good for fiber blowing.

After clean the microduct, then we can start the fiber cable blowing, fix the cable and duct on the fiber blowing machine, Utilize an air compressor to blow the cable through the microduct. Ensure the air pressure is sufficient to move the cable but not so high as to damage it.

Normally the fiber blowing machine manufacturer will recommend suitable machine base on the diameter of your duct and cable, also the request for blowing distance.

Step 6: Will be fiber splice and test.

Fusion Splice: After the microcable is in place, perform fusion splicing to connect the fiber optic cables. This ensures a low-loss connection.

Test: Test the installed fiber optic cables to ensure proper functionality and performance. Measure optical power, attenuation, and reflectance.

Step 7: Will be maintenance and network expansion

Install access boxes to support the microduct and facilitate future maintenance.

Network Expansion: Plan for future expansion by leaving space for additional microducts or fibers. As you can see from the pictures, there are 18 piece microdcuts in the manhole, they will blowing fiber cable into 5 of the 18 microducts, then they will seal the rest 15 piece microducts by duct end cap, they can move the end cap and blow fiber cable inside whenever they need.

By following these steps and guidelines, you can ensure a successful installation of microducts and microcables, providing a reliable and scalable fiber optic network.

Fiber blowing solutions represent a significant leap forward in the deployment of fiber optic networks, offering unparalleled speed, cost-effectiveness, and scalability. As the demand for high-speed data communication continues to grow, these innovative solutions are poised to play a crucial role in meeting the connectivity needs of the future. By leveraging fiber blowing technology, organizations can deploy robust, reliable, and future-proof networks that support the digital transformation of industries and communities
