How Many Functional Lenses Do You Know?
Nowadays, in order to meet different customers' requirements and market trends, there are many different functional lenses coming out such as anti-blue light lenses, photo-chromatic lenses, eco-friendly lenses, etc.
Today, I want to show you 19 kinds of functional lenses. You can check how many lenses do you know:
1. Anti-blue light lenses
Blue light, a high-energy visible light, comes from both natural and artificial sources. Natural blue light can have some positive effects, including lifting mood and regulating circadian rhythm. However, it's the artificial blue light that causes worry.
What is blue light?
Behold the light spectrum, where wavelengths of light are measured in nanometers. Notice that blue light is the closest visible light to ultra-violet light. It ranges from about 380 to 500nm, compared to red light’s 700nm.
Put simply, it’s one of the shortest, highest-energy wavelengths on the spectrum, and accounts for an impressive one-third of all visible light.
Symptoms of over-exposure
Studies have shown that prolonged and repeated exposure to blue light can have a number of ill-effects on our bodies. In the short-term: aches, strains, pains, and lethargy in around the eye area. In the long term, there's even a chance it may accelerate macular degeneration and damage cells in the retina. That blue light from your screen messes up your sleep too - surely a case of Netflix and no-chill. It depletes the production of melatonin, the hormone responsible for putting you to sleep.
How do anti-blue light lenses work?
Anti-blue lenses are made from lightweight and shatterproof poly-carbonate. A naturally occurring pigment is baked into the mixture, which blocks a significant portion of the blue light spectrum.
The benefit of wearing anti-blue light glasses
Relief from strain: Say goodbye to the headaches and eye-strain driving you crazy. So you can concentrate on getting stuff done.
Improved sleep: Improve sleep quality and fall asleep easier. By blocking evening blue light, you're regulating melatonin production.
Long-term protection: We don't quite know what the future holds for screen users. But taking preventative action early might be a good idea.
2. Color-enhancing lenses
The human eye will make the color perception imbalance during the fatigue stage. The color enhancement lens can effectively improve the sensitivity of the visual nerve interference to the color, which fundamentally affects the vision, improving the color perception. It makes the color richer, the saturation is increased, and the vision is clearer and more comfortable, showing the wearer the true colors of nature.
How does it work?
Through a special formula, block the yellow light source (light spectrum near 585nm), strengthen the red, blue and green vision, so that the eyes can return to the feeling of youth;
Improve and recognize the ability of brightness and color difference, which can be used for sports, outdoor recreation and entertainment, and enrich life with visual experience;
The color discrimination (contrast and clarity) of ordinary PC and nylon injection lenses is improved, and the color enhancement effect is achieved so that the wearer can see objects more clearly and vividly.
3. Anti-laser lenses
What is laser?
Laser is a kind of artificial light. It is another major discovery of mankind since the 20th century after nuclear energy, computers, and semiconductors. It is called the "fastest knife", "most accurate ruler", and "brightest light". The light that is stimulated by atoms is called "laser". The laser has good monochromaticity, high brightness and good directionality.
The harm of laser
Laser damage to the retina is mainly due to visible lasers and infrared lasers that can pass through the refractive medium of the eye to reach the retina, with a transmittance of 42-88%, and an effective absorption rate for the retina and choroid is 54-65%. If the laser power density on the retina reaches 15MJ/CM2, human eyes can be harmed, causing degree of injury ranges from redness, short-term blindness to permanent blindness. A more serious consequence is that the laser burns the retina, causing extensive bleeding in the fundus. Among lasers with various wavelengths, blue-green lasers around 530NM are the most harmful to human eyes. Relatively speaking, lasers with wavelengths ranging from 400-1400NM can cause greater damage to human eyes.
Therefore, anti-laser lenses are developed to protect our eyes.
4. Anti-seawater lenses
Anti-seawater lenses can withstand the seawater immersion test for over 48 hours, effectively resist weak acid and alkaline water, and meet the needs of seaside wear.
5. Anti-infrared beauty lens
54% of solar radiation is infrared. Infrared radiation spreads like heat. It has a "heat" effect, which increases the evaporation of tears and causes eye discomfort. At the same time, it penetrates the skin around the eyes and destroys collagen, accelerates the growth of wrinkles around the eyes, and causes the degeneration of the retina and lens, thereby causing eye diseases.
The harm of infrared
- Infrared pollution promotes pigmentation and damaged skin
2. Near-infrared rays accelerate skin aging around eyes
3. Burns eyes, can cause infrared cataracts
The function of anti-infrared beauty lenses
1. Strongly resist infrared rays, protect the skin around the eyes: The cells in our skin and eyes need to be protected from additional radiation. The surface of the anti-infrared beauty lenses is covered with a special infrared protective coating. The specially developed anti-infrared technology can help reduce the amount of infrared radiation that penetrates the skin around the eyes. Avoid infrared rays burn the skin around the eyes, reduce the production of infrared erythema, reject pigmentation, keep unsightly pigments away from your eyes, and embrace the warm sun.
2. Delay skin aging and retain youth: Anti-infrared + anti-ultraviolet rays are satisfied at the same time, jointly fight skin aging and pigmentation, reduce the formation of sunburn, slow down the erosion of harmful rays in the sun on the skin around the eyes, make the skin around the eyes relaxed and unburdened, and enjoy healthy sunshine.
3. Keep eyes away from sunburn, cataracts, and other diseases: Reduce infrared rays reaching the fundus retina, resist and protect the fundus of the eye from infrared rays damage, protect the eyes from infrared burns and cause eye diseases or vision loss, and strongly block infrared rays from penetrating the iris, effectively reducing the occurrence of cataract diseases caused by infrared rays.
6. Photochromic lenses
Photochromic lenses can change color according to the sunlight and ultraviolet to meet different situations.
7. Anti-bacteria lenses
Long-term wearing of resin lenses will inevitably have various bacteria, fungi, viruses and other microorganisms, and some even form small colonies, which affect the lens effect, and the spread of various harmful microorganisms seriously threaten human eye health and physical health.
Anti-bacteria lenses can effectively inhibit 98% of Escherichia coli and effectively inhibit 97% of Staphylococcus aureus.
The antibacterial effect remains 98% after 24 hours of aging, and the effective antibacterial effect can reach more than two years.
8. Lenses for color blindness and color weakness
Vision is the most important human sense. It provides us with 90% of the information processed. Of our other senses, hearing only provides 5%, while other senses provide even less. Color vision is particularly important in distinguishing the boundaries of objects, making it easier for us to accept non-verbal social signals and pay attention to environmental details. Without color vision, humans will lose a lot of key information.
People with color blindness and color weakness have difficulty in accurately identifying traffic signs such as traffic lights, and there are potential safety hazards when driving vehicles.
What causes color blindness and color weakness?
The main cause of color blindness is the mutation of human color recognition genes. Its manifestation in the structure of the human eye is that the three types of cone cells have changed, losing the red, green, and blue cone cell functions; or the three-cone cells have the functions, but one of the light-sensitive spectra has occurred displacement, leading to color vision deviation; or only monochromatic perception, that is, loss of two or three cone cell functions, as known as complete color blindness.
How do lenses for color blindness and color weakness work?
Through special technology, the lenses make the color boundary of the three primary colors of red, green and blue is strengthened, while maintaining the color balance, so that patients with color blindness and color weakness can distinguish red, green and blue, which brings great convenience to the daily life of color blind and color weakness patients, improving the happiness of life.
9. Anti-oil polarized lenses
Resistant to oil, sweat and fingerprints.
10. Anti-fog lenses
The special lens surface treatment process can effectively block the fog, keep the lens clear at all times, and the service life is as long as 1 year.
11. Fog display anti-counterfeiting lens
What is anti-counterfeiting?
Anti-counterfeiting refers to measures used to prevent imitation, copying or forgery without permission of ownership by means of deception. Anti-counterfeiting technology is a technical means used to identify authenticity and prevent counterfeiting and counterfeiting. It refers to technical measures, products, materials, technical equipment, etc. used to prevent counterfeiting, counterfeiting, or identify authenticity.
Benefits of anti-counterfeit lenses
While enterprises use anti-counterfeiting technology to combat counterfeit and shoddy products, rectify and regulate the market, it is also a necessary means for modern enterprises to enhance the image of enterprises and their products, and show that enterprises are responsible to consumers and society. At the same time, companies should take anti-counterfeiting as an opportunity to take effective anti-counterfeiting measures as a strategic investment for the company, and formulate and gradually achieve anti-counterfeiting goals in a planned way, and integrate anti-counterfeiting throughout the entire process of product production, marketing, and business management, regarding anti-counterfeiting as an important means for enterprises to safeguard their rights, fight counterfeiting, and build brands.
12. Bi-flashing lenses
Using a special coating process, 3 coating colors are displayed on the lens to produce a color contrast effect, which further enhances the fashion of the lens, carries on the personality to the end.
13. Starry lenses
Using special craftsmanship, the lens presents a starry sky-like effect. The stars are dotted, just like being in the vast sea of stars. The visual experience is extraordinary.
14. Matte coating lenses
A special coating process is adopted to give the lens surface a matte effect, fade the dazzling brilliance, and make the visual experience softer. The frosted particles on the lens surface produce diffuse reflection when facing the glare, which more effectively filters and blocks the direct damage of the glare to the eyes.
15. UV420 lenses
UV420 lenses can effectively block UV420 ultraviolet rays and high-energy visible light(HEV).
HEV light is a high-frequency, high-energy light with a wavelength of 400-500nm in visible light.
Blocking ultraviolet and high-energy visible light plays a key role in preventing cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.
16. AR/OAR anti-reflective coating lenses
AR coating is generally plated on the back of the lens, and its reflectivity can reach 2.5%, which absorbs light and avoids harmful light refraction damage to the eyes. OAR coating is an upgraded version of AR with a reflectivity of 0.8% and better light absorption effect.

The degradability rate is more than 85%, the time is more than the fifth week to start to degrade, and the degradation is completed in 5 years.
19. Night driving lenses
Not seeing clearly when driving at night is a common complaint. Poor night vision can affect people of any age, but it tends to be particularly bothersome after age 40.
What are night driving lenses?
Night driving glasses have nonprescription, yellow-tinted lenses that range in shade from light yellow to amber. Some night driving glasses also have an anti-reflective coating.
Night driving glasses reduce glare by scattering and filtering out blue light. Blue light is the part of the light spectrum that has the shortest wavelength and the largest amount of energy. Unlike types of light with longer wavelengths, blue light is more likely to cause glare when it enters the eye.
Night driving glasses have been manufactured for several decades. These yellow-tinted glasses were originally marketed to hunters as shooting glasses. They continue to be popular with hunters because they sharpen the contrast of flying birds against the sky during overcast or cloudy conditions.
