How to make your sales process easier and more effective

People often tell me that they are terrible at sales, find their sales process uncomfortable or feel super awkward when asking for the sale.??

And if you keep hearing "I need to think about it," "I can't afford it," or some other version of no, it just reinforces the fact that you're "bad" at sales.

Feeling icky in any way about asking for the sale is a huge problem if you want to grow your business so you want to get it resolved ASAP.

There are a few sneaky reasons why you might find sales hard, uncomfortable or awkward which?are totally out of your control until you become aware of what they are...

1. Fear of rejection

If you're anything like me, you put your heart and soul into your offers and your work.

When someone says no, it can feel like they are rejecting you personally. (even when you logically know it's nothing personal)

When this happens regularly, it can paralyse you from taking the actions you need to take to book clients and grow your business.

When I was trying to get the "one call close" right I'd feel sick to my stomach before every sales call and I'd secretly wish the prospect would cancel, while at the same time really wanting to make a sale! Talk about feeling conflicted!

2. You're attached to the outcome

Perhaps you need the money or really want to work with this person.

When this happens you send out desperate and needy energy which your prospect will subconsciously pick up on.

Something will feel off for them and they won't sign up.

Or, this is typically when you'll get into "convince mode" where you try and talk your prospect into signing up and putting pressure on them.

This is likely to make them run in the opposite direction and never look back.

3. Imposter syndrome

If you're offering a new service or wanting to up-level the types of clients you work with to someone more advanced or more sophisticated, you might have thoughts about not feeling "ready" or "qualified" enough.

Not only will prospects pick this up in your energy but you'll sabotage your own sales and marketing attempts by "hiding" or not being bold enough.

4. Don't want to be seen as "salesy"

This is a big one for most purpose-driven Coaches & Experts. They don't want to come across as being pushy, manipulative or "in it for the money" so they don't talk about how they help their clients or make enough offers.

It's kinda hard to book client when no one knows what it is you have to sell and you're not making offers...

5. Lack of confidence in your ability to deliver results

This is probably one of the biggest reasons for coaches sabotaging their sales.

If you don't believe in yourself & your ability to get your clients to their desired outcome your prospects will feel it.

Your doubt will speak directly to their doubt and they will give you some kind of objection.

This is why it's important to be fully aligned with what you're offering, who you're offering it to and to create a process specifically designed to get your clients the outcome they want.

This way you'll have absolute confidence & certainty in your services which makes sales SO much easier because your prospects will be able to "borrow" some of your certainty so they can make the decision to buy from you.
