This is the time of the year when we reflect on what we have accomplished and set goals for the New Year.
The New Year's resolutions we all want motivate us to make a positive change in our lives, but they never seem to last. We start strong, excited and determined that with a new year, we will become a new person. After about two weeks, we slowly lose that motivation, and our old habits take over. We then try to apply discipline, which helps, but it is not enough, and our decisions to change drift into history.
So, where does this leave us?
What if there was a simple, predictable way to change and have it last? This is the topic of today's podcast, and I share the approach I have taken to make the changes I have struggled with. Instead of depending on Discipline and Motivation, I work on how to build simple systems that focus on frequency and difficulty over time to make these changes automatic and enjoyable.
