How To Make Your Product Stand Out
Being an entrepreneur in the age of consumerism means your product is constantly being compared to others. If you make sure what you have to offer is appealing to your clients in every aspect, it will make bringing your product to market not as intimidating.
Here are some of our best tips to make sure that your product stands out among the rest and captures the eye of your clients:
01. Utilizing color-theory
Believe it or not, colors are very impressionable to our inner psyche. It can be what makes or breaks your clients from buying your products or moving on to the next. If you know the kind of feeling you want your brand to embody, then look into what colors would go best with that feeling. For example, if you are wanting your brand/product to embody the feeling of light fullness, high energy, joy, and happiness- which yellow would be a good color for, you’ll probably not want to use the color red- which gives off urgency, anger, power, and passion.
02. Using high-quality images
Make the investment in brand photography. This may seem like a no-brainer, but many entrepreneurs think they can get by just using stock images or even iPhone pictures for their products. Although they may be able to for a short time, the brands that invest in high-quality photos will see a lot more traffic than those that don’t. Just think about when you shop; if you can tell the difference between a photo taken from google and a photo that was developed specifically for that product/brand, so will your clients.
03. Choosing typography
Playing around with different fonts is a fun part of building your brand and seeing how they will look on your products. Just like color theory, fonts have an impact on us as well. Here are some commonly used fonts and the emotions associated with them:
Fancy Script Fonts – prestige, elegance, and maturity
Hand Script Fonts – casual, playful, rebellious, and youthful
Serif Print Fonts – stability, class, and older age
Sans-Serif Print Fonts – modernity, directness, simplicity
Headline Fonts – attention-grabbing, intense, truthful
Decorative Fonts – unique, whimsical, fun

Although you may like the look of a hand script font, you may not want your brand/product to embody that feeling.
04. Strategically designed packaging
Packaging is the perfect place to incorporate your branding and attract the five senses of your customers. Here are some ways you can use the five senses to your advantage:
Sight: This goes back to the use of color psychology. Strategically use colors that will represent your brand and what it stands for, while still creating the experience you want your customers to feel when looking at your product.
Touch: The way your product feels in the hands of your clients is extremely impactful. Think about when you go to buy a new piece of clothing. You may be drawn to a more expensive product at first glance but once you get closer and feel that the texture of that piece of clothing isn’t up to your standards, you’ll pass. Get creative with your customer’s experience. Play around with different textures and shapes.
Smell: Did you know that smells affect the part of our brain that controls both memories and emotions? So much so, that there is even a division of marketing called scent marketing. If your product has a scent that you can use to your advantage, do it!
Taste: If you sell a product that your clients can sample, let them! Make the experience as memorable as possible and give them a little taste of what it would be like if they fully invested in you.
Sound: Sound is a great way to connect with your clients. Whether it’s through creating a curated playlist or using trendy sounds on social media.
05. Staying on top of trends
Staying on top of trends is of utmost importance for making your product stand out. Consumers are always looking for the newest thing, so make sure you are constantly doing market research on what others are offering and how your product compares.
Keep in mind that every tip above is a perfect place for you to incorporate your branding. Consistency is key!
Don’t let the fear of your product getting lost in the midst of others stop you from showing off what you have to offer. There are plenty of ways to get creative and stand out. It all comes down to the kind of experience you want your clients to have from the moment they step through the door or land on your site to the moment a sale is complete.
