Well, my friends, summer's just about over.

Labor Day Weekend is here.

Time to pack up, travel and get your mind off work.

Right?

Well, yes and no.

You and I both know vacation isn't some magic tabula rasa.

The mind's always rushing.

Most employees are worried sick about coming layoffs, if they're not already out of work.

Many are considering consulting, fractional work and so on.

But most don't have a clue how to actually build a practice.

Most don't know the market trends or how to escape becoming a commodity.

Having been at this for a decade plus, I've learned a few tricks by seeing the patterns.

Most likely, you'll wait far too long to get ahead of shocks to the system.

Most likely, you'll wait until you're laid off to start your consulting or fractional practice.

Most likely, you'll frantically start a search for a career or leadership coach only once the proverbial sh*t has hit the fan.

It's a shame.

But it's also human nature.

I've done this myself far too many times to count.

But I've also learned to get ahead of things.

Summer's been relatively quiet on my LinkedIN.

But it doesn't mean I haven't been making some power moves, in the meantime.

A quick rundown.

1) Did a marketing strategy project for a large Jewish non-profit to benefit Ukrainian freelancers. Learned a LOT.

2) Building a brand book, website, collateral and deal flow pipeline for a PE advisory firm.

3) Coaching a couple close friends on career and leadership, being more present at home and more effective at work (time management, delegating better, hiring help)

4) Setting up to migrate my coaching and consulting and advising work to a premier larger firm focused on SMBs and mid-market. More news to come - stay tuned.

What this means for my clients: more firepower to help you succeed in your business, career and life, together with some insanely powerful IP, a larger team

5) Talking every week to 5-10 HR tech and services vendors about joining my marketplace for SMBs. Learning a TON about the market, new tech, new approaches. SUPER interesting.

If you're an HR Tech founder or exec and want to discuss joining, PM me. We're always looking for great tech and services to add to the marketplace before we launch in a few months :)

6) Joined an advisory board under HR.com on Future of Work tech. Great discussions, more to come here, as well.

7) Talking to PE firms about potential acquisitions in HR Tech. If you're looking to sell your business, PM me, let's chat.

8) Joining a new executive coaching platform, ExponentUp , as a senior exec coach with a corporate focus.

That's just what I can share ;)

And of course, this isn't at the expense of lots of fun with family, lots of awesome hikes, pastries, grilling in the backyard, great times with friends.

All of that, of course, in the shadow of war, which has taken a big toll on our people and nation.

We pay our gratitude and respects to the fallen, recognize their sacrifices and those of their families.

Too many of our hostages are still not home, as we continue to pray and fight to return them.

All the same, life goes on.

There is never a dull moment and the rest is always in passing.

As we close the summer, I wish you and your family lots of genuine R&R, good health, prosperity and continued blessings.

As always, if I can help you in your journey in some concrete way, reach out to me directly.

Fall means a crazy rush to the end of the year.

However you end up doing the work, don't wait until December to change your life and your career for the better.

Here's that nudge you really need :)
