Do you wake up feeling dread or anxious? Possibly you slept late last night, woke up to realize that you are late for work, opened your laptop, pushing everything to the edge. One out of four people feels the same, lazy, and unproductive throughout the day. They want to get a lot done but lack the energy to do the same. You know why? Because they are missing something important called "morning rituals."
Having a morning ritual is very important. This makes your day productive and gets more done than in general. Having a morning ritual helps accomplish the task you have been otherwise procrastinating for a long time, like going for a walk, reading a book, etc. When you start your mornings on the right note, you feel more elevated and energized.?
Why rituals not routine? You might have heard or read people claiming to have a "morning routine." The idea of not using the word "routine" is the psychological mindset regarding routine that they are bounded and boring.?
It's not just about waking up early in the morning but also about what you do once you are up. Having a morning ritual is more important during unprecedented times like this to keep yourself relaxed and healthy.?
When you don't start your day right, you fight a battle of stress throughout the day. You feel like giving up. You might miss opportunities—lack of energy to close a business deal, having a tough time with people at work, etc.?
What if you could avoid all this simply by following a morning ritual. No, not advising you to wake up at 5 a.m; because not everyone is a morning person. Even if you don't wake up early, following a few practices can enhance your ability to perform better throughout the day.?
If you are looking to kickstart your day and get more done, here are a few tips that you can follow.?
4 proven tips to start your day right?
Let's deep dive into each of these tips to have a better understanding.?
1.Spend some time with yourself
I know you didn't expect this because most articles or blogs you come across have the same monotonous tips like "make your bed," "drink water," etc. But people hardly talk about practising solitude .?
We live in a hyper-virtual world. We are connected with people over social media. The constant comparison with people on social media can make you anxious. You might feel like missing out a lot, even when you are not.?
Sometimes, it is important to listen all the feelings and spend time with yourself. Take your cup of coffee and sit by the window. Look at nature, see people walking, notice everything happening around. Keep your mobile phone and all other distractions aside. Enjoy the harmony, tranquillity, feel the morning breeze, watch the sun rising. This will make you feel relaxed, calm, and rejuvenated.?
Spending some time with yourself helps you notice your true feelings. You listen to your inner voice, what you are feeling. This can really change your perspective about yourself and life.?
2.Write down your thoughts?
Let's understand it from different perspectives.?
Our mind is wired to multiple things, and we always keep thinking. But sometimes, it's important to get rid of unnecessary thoughts . A great hack is to write them down. Do this, and you'll feel better.?
Remember writing a diary when you were a child, where you use to write what happened throughout the day and how you felt about it. To understand it better, we call it the habit of "journaling."?

Set aside a few minutes every day. Take a journal (if not a diary) and pen. Write down your thoughts. I don't recommend using a mobile phone for journaling because I don't want you to feed something negative to your mind.?
Second, if you are a content creator, you'll understand how important it is to get creative ideas. So, you can use this time to write all the creative ideas running in your mind, so every time you run short of ideas, you can go back and check.?
3.Move your body?
I didn't want to add this option to the list because not everyone enjoys working out in the morning. But I'm a firm believer that working on your body even for 15-minutes can make you energized. It doesn't have to be an intense workout or a full yoga routine. The importance of this habit is to release some serotonin in your body, so you don't end up being a dough bag for the entire day.?
You can start with running, doing 10 push-ups, jogging, going for a walk, or whatever gives you a positive feeling.?
4.Turn on the playlist and have a shower.
Now that most people are working from home, skipping showers for days can be a thing. But if you are practicing this habit, it's time to change. This can make you lousy and unproductive Taking cold showers in the morning can stimulate adrenal glands and make you feel relaxed. I know this sounds too much, but here's a hack. Turn on your favorite playlist and listen to it while taking a shower. This will really put you in a better mood and unwind from all the thoughts running in your mind. If you don't want to get distracted from notifications, put your mobile on airplane mode or turn them off.?
5.Eat healthily
For years I use to skip my breakfast, but recently I have realized how having a healthy breakfast can make you productive for the rest of the day . This gives you energy, increases your concentration, and improves your memory. So now, if you stay alone or don't have time to prepare healthy meals, spend your time on weekends looking for quick homemade recipes. Get the ingredients ready, so you don't end up wasting time.?
