How to Make Your Job Application Stand Out

How to Make Your Job Application Stand Out

We are all unique and have different things to offer an employer, so why is it that we all approach our job search in relatively the same way?

The first thing that you need to do is understand your strengths. You likely intuitively know them, but if you are struggling to figure this out, there are a ton of free quizzes online (DISC profile, Strengths Finder, etc) that can help you narrow in on a few. You can also make a list of things people always go to you for or straight up ask your friends- what do you think my strengths are?

Next, take a look at how you have been approaching your job search and ask if it reflects AND taps into those strengths. Great communicator? Why not try writing your resume like you were selling your best friend on something amazing (in this case, the amazing thing is YOU!) or use a short video to introduce yourself to people on LinkedIn? If you are even better in person, then make having coffee meetings your go-to approach.

Tech-savvy? Build out a quick website that you can link people to for an immersive experience of who you are and a demonstration of your skills.

Will it take more time than emailing in dozens of resumes? Perhaps, but if you aren’t getting the results you want with the approach you are taking, it’s time to try something new.

When you stop telling yourself you have to follow the “rules” and do what everyone else is doing, you open up a whole new way to stand out from the crowd.

If you are feeling frustrated and overwhelmed at the prospect of finding a job that isn’t soul-sucking, then send me a message about my upcoming Mastermind group program where we will deep dive on all the areas of work and life so you come out with a solid career plan, a way to climb the ladder without losing your mind, and the support of a group of women all going through the same things as you.

I help high-achieving women take back control of their life and create a career that they love without sacrifice.

If you are feeling overwhelmed with trying to balance life and work, exhausted by endless to-do lists, and guilty about your career taking you away from your life and family, I can help you design a sustainable path forward so you can have both a career AND a life that is thriving.

I have a background in psychology combined with almost a decade in coaching along with experience managing in both the private and public sectors. I have seen how crucial it is for high-achieving women like us to find a new way to approach work so we don't end up feeling like a failure at home while we barely keep our heads above water at work. I also deeply understand how the mind works and the subconscious strategies you need to truly start becoming a leader.

My clients go from:

  • 15 hour days to walking in the door feeling calm, relaxed and present with their families
  • Feeling overwhelmed and stressed to managing their workloads with ease
  • Cycling through burnout to feeling in control of their work and life

If you are done with wasting time struggling to figure it all out on your own, and you are ready to develop yourself so you can reach new heights in your career without falling into burnout or overwhelm.
