How to Make Your Business and Home Cleaning More Eco-Friendly ??

As you start to map out your business and home cleaning schedule, pledge to be more green. I believe in creating a cleaner, safer, and healthier world where people thrive – not just today but for generations to come. Many times that starts right in our own place.

If you’re wondering how to start cleaning your office/home or what are the best green cleaning tips, I can help. Try these tips for an eco-friendly cleaning experience!?

Reuse or repurpose household items for cleaning

Many of the materials around the house can be used for cleaning – and then washed and reused – in place of disposable items.?

  • Want to freshen drawers or closets? Instead of using paper towels to clean your windows and mirrors, try using old towels with your favorite glass cleaner.
  • You can do the same with your floors. Ditch the disposable sweeping or mopping pads and try a fuzzy sock as a duster. You also can use a microfiber cloth with a spray cleaner for cleaning.?
  • Stuff an old or mismatched sock with natural scents like cinnamon sticks, lavender, whole cloves, dried eucalyptus, or bay leaves.

Make your eco-friendly cleaning supplies.

You can use household materials to make your reusable cleaning supplies with some creativity. Check out some of our favorite links below.

  • Cut down on single-use supplies by making your?antibacterial cleaning wipes. All you need are old T-shirts, vinegar and some essential oils.?
  • Reuse mesh produce bags – like the ones that hold tangerines – to make your?pot scrubber. You’ll need a little bit of tulle fabric to stuff inside.?
  • If you’re feeling exceptionally creative and drink a lot of bottled soda, you can?make a broom?out of plastic 2-liter bottles.?

After reducing and reusing – recycle

If your spring cleaning project involves clearing out clutter, think about whether any of your discards can be donated or recycled. For simple recycling do’s and don’ts, contact me via DM.

  • When it comes to recycling, make sure you know what to throw. Cardboard, paper, metal, aluminum cans, and plastic bottles and jugs are always recyclable. Contact me to confirm if your local program accepts glass in your local recycling program.?
  • If you’ve been collecting plastic grocery bags, return them to the store for recycling. They can’t go in your curbside container and shouldn’t go in the trash.?
  • Old clothing, shoes, bedding, and towels can be donated. Check?Earth911.com?for a donation site near you.?

Items requiring special handling

Overall, Americans get rid of 7 million tons of old electronics – or “e-waste” – every year. That adds up to about 42 pounds per person! There are options for safely recycling electronics if you have old batteries or light bulbs – or even an old TV.?

Tackling a more significant project…?

  • A?dumpster rental can be a good option for remodeling projects or discarding oversized items.?
  • Our residential customers can also order?bulk trash pickup?for oversized items such as furniture and appliances.?
