How to make your 2K mold design perfect
Today I am going to share a rotation 2K mold from a dish-washing machine component, sometime we call this kindly of mold is Index 2K mold. To consider the high production volume, so the cavity number is 8+8, injection machine is Arburg 250T, tie bar distance is 630*630mm, index unit max diameter of ration plate is 936mm. Injection machine is small, mold design not only have to meet strength requirement, but also fit the injection machine. That is a challenging work for a mold designer. Let me introduce this mold as following.
Product introduction:
First component: POM; Second component: PE; Part dimension: 94 X 35 X 9.6mm
Both side of part have undercut, floating cavity slider design will be more stable and save more space.
Mold layout introduction:
To save more space, 2 undercut from 2 parts is on the same slider. Part distance:102*168mm, cavity size: 102*80*81mm, mold size: 610*850*839mm
Injection systems introduction:
First components resin is POM, we use 1 drop hot tip gate is enough. Second component is a special PE and MFR is less than 0.1, we find many hot runner company to evaluate the hot runner systems manufacturing possibility, finally only GUNTHER have capability to do it because they have too many experience for such low MFR resin.
First component injection:
Second component injection:
Whole hot runner system:
Floating cavity slider:
Index until system introduction:
To save cycle time, the index until system designed on the mold, whole rotation action only need 3s, if the system located on the injection, it will take 10s at least.

Cooling system:
To reduce cycle time, sufficient cooling is necessary, all plastic area designed cooling as much as possible.
