How To Make Sure Your Company Photos Are Indexed By Google!
Diane Jones
The Purposeful Photographer | Photography Consultant & Visual Strategist for Businesses ??
If your company photographs fade into the background on the internet instead of being highly visible on Google Search engines, then this is one Newsletter you will want to read... and share.
Wanting to know how I get my client's photographs indexed has been an obsession that has opened up a pandora's box of hurdles that I was intent on solving, so I have taken the past several months researching, testing, and measuring just how it can be done effectively.
It is unquestionably clear that all those company photographs you have invested in hiring a professional photographer will only magically appear on Google Search engines if you add metadata and know where to post for maximum exposure.
And no... we cannot leave it solely to your WEBSITE to do all the work!
So let's delve into what I have found, so you can be sure that prospective clients are seeing your company and that you are one step ahead of your competitors.
(I have kept the images small as they are only screenshots and appear pixelated in large format)!
You will notice that each photo has a small thumbnail and description at the bottom left.
This is where Google found the photo, so please pay close attention.
Website Photographs
It is true that Google will index the company photographs sitting on your website, but only if your web developer has added all the relevant metadata.
I highly recommend you talk to your web designer about this before investing your money, as not all web designers do this as standard (if at all)!
Of course, you'll need to supply them with the Titles and Keywords you'd like to use for each image, making the process much easier for everyone concerned.
In addition, adding Titles and Keywords to every photo before you even send them to your web designer is necessary if you want to impact the world wide web with your company photographs.
Once added to your website, it can take two days to 2 weeks for your images to show up on Google search engines.
Facebook Photographs
Facebook is the KING at indexing your photos quickly, usually within a day or two of posting which means your photos are circulating the web pretty quickly.
With this in mind, I will use Facebook with a more strategic marketing plan than I have done until now - a revelation in my research that has created more work, but knowing what I know now will be worth the time spent.
Twitter Photographs
Twitter was a platform I used sparingly and only re-started for the necessity of my research.
However, like Facebook, Google indexes photos posted on Twitter within a few days.
Although the views on my Twitter are very few, with the odd like here and there, it is a platform I will use daily to focus on getting my photos indexed.
External Editorials
This is my most exciting and proud moment, knowing my photos are being used across the industry I love.
Photographs I have taken for my clients, Eurovia and EST, used by acclaimed Infrastructure industries for their editorials.

It was slightly disappointing to find out that it takes longer for Google to index your photos on Linkedin, often taking two weeks or more, especially as this is my preferred Social Media Platform.
However, it is excellent to know that banners using photos with Titles and Keywords added get indexed, which was a game changer for how I use Linkedin for my clients and my business in the future.
Instagram and Google My Business!
This was, by far, the most shocking find.
Photos posted to Instagram and Google My Business aren't indexed AT ALL!
Again...
I have changed the way I use Instagram, and because of this, I am reaping the benefits massively. (but that's another post or Newsletter for another day).
Measuring Clients Photograph Social Media Posts
Thankfully, those clients who use social media and their website with the photographs I have produced are found by Google, making it the perfect Return On their Investment.
Adding Titles and Keywords
I have already produced a Newsletter detailing how you can add your Titles and Keywords that you can access at any time.

Conclusion
As you can see from the results of my research, adding Titles and Keywords to your company photographs has tremendous benefits.
Adding this critical information isn't something I am willing to negotiate with my clients, as it is the reason we have photographs in the first place.
To share our exceptional work with the world.
But how will the world find you if you are nowhere to be seen?
Your website isn't enough; you must also be found on social media platforms.
