How to Make the Second Half of Your Life Better than the First

For the first half of his life, Ron Miller lived his childhood dream. When he hit midlife, he realized he had two choices: He could either decline or he could progress—and progressing meant making the second half of his life even better than the first.
I like the sound of that, don’t you? So I was excited to have Ron as a guest on The Crossman Conversation .
When I first met Ron Miller, we were student athletes at Florida State University—he was a basketball star and I ran track. Today, he’s the lead pastor at Every Nation Tallahassee and a human performance coach.
He says we’re triune beings—spirit, soul, and body. “What makes us unique from all of creation is we’re spiritual beings and have the ability to commune with our Creator, God, our Father,” he said.
Ron said the three assessments of our overall heath are our digestion, energy, and mood.
“Scripture says we’re fearfully and wonderfully made,” he said. “To be lethargic and unhealthy is just not in our divine design, it’s not how God created us.”
When he figured this out, Ron was in his mid-40s, pre-diabetic with high cholesterol, joint pain, and battling depression. Today, at 53, he feels like he’s 30 again and he’s helping others make the same transformation.
“Epigenetics has revealed that we either turn on or off our best genes,” he said. “We do that by our thinking and our nutrition. So you’re either activating the best of what God put inside of you or you’re suppressing it based upon how you think and how you eat. Paul addresses it all over Scripture.”
When you tie the Holy Spirit with your own spirit, soul, and body, and have them all healthy and functioning well, Ron said, “That’s how you’re able to serve God and serve others at your full potential. Life’s too short to live below God’s divine design for us.”

That’s absolutely true.
Ron and I also talked sports and he shared some great stories about the amazing athletes he’s played with. Sports fans will enjoy that, and everyone will benefit from his advice on how to make every day of the future better than the one before. Listen to the show here:
