How to make relationship with US clients to boost your sales.

Yes, its Saturday morning and time to think about the results and strategize again for the coming week. We all have the same question in our mind? What will work with client? What set of questions should I ask the client? What reference should I give?

 From small scale to MNC everyone strives to generate sales. There is a huge increase in competition and other business challenges are increasing as well. Most of the global work is being outsourced to one of the 3 regions - Eastern Europe, India, other parts of Asia like Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam etc.

From my personal experience, I can tell you what consideration worked for me with International Clients: 

  1.   Under promise and over deliver.
  2.   Emphasis on creating quality not quantity.
  3.   Train resources to meet basic standard of professionalism.
  4.   Professional etiquette is very important to maintain ongoing relationship.
  5.   Try to travel and meet client, build trust.
  6.   FOLLOW UP religiously. And tell them your past stories.

  1.   Take advice from International consultant.
  2.   Strategize & Plan. Then implement it for a course of time.
  3.   Communication is the key to success.
  4.   LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST. Be there when needed. Keep your head high and eyes open so that when opportunities knock the door you know what to do.

Here is some preparation one should do while in business with existing client.

  1.  Know about client business.
  2.  Learn about culture difference & behavior in business.
  3.  Know how they expect deliverables. Define what you can deliver.
  4.  Ask them how they expect to be communicated. Use some project management tool to make sure client feel there is a process in place & they do not have to call every now and then to get update.
  5.  Ensure the key people in the company are on LinkedIn & connected.

Don’t try to focus on all kinds of projects. IT is very important to understand "Jack of all trade is expert of none". Why one client will work with multiple vendor, because one vendor can't be best for everything. Henceforth, if you do everything then you are killing your extinction. This is where the most of the companies fail.
