At Workshop we believe in rest because we know productivity stems from a balanced individual and team. The holidays are a time for our teams and partners to recharge, regroup and refocus. Some of the main ways to utilise the holiday season include;
Catching up with hobbies: Were you too busy to swing on the golf course this year? Now is the time! The long holiday is the perfect time to participate in those activities that may not make you money but bring you joy. You know what they say about Jack and work.
Family bonding: They say no amount of money or success can take the place of time spent with family and we agree. As schools remain closed and employers give breaks, Christmas and New year presents the perfect opportunity to spend time with our spouses, children and larger family. This may not make up for the missed school plays or dinners but creates new, valuable memories to hold onto.
Rest and recreation: Work is good but doing absolutely nothing is even better!; especially over the holidays. It is easy to switch from go mode at work to being too busy with hobbies and family time however, relaxing activities such as naps, lazy walks, binging your favourite shows and listening to music are great for energising your tired mind, body and soul for the upcoming year.
Practice gratitude: A grateful heart is a magnet for the best that life has to offer. As we take stock of the past year it is easy to get stuck on failures and what was not achieved. Being thankful for achievements vital for getting in the right frame of mind. This includes acknowledging even the slightest progress including making it to the end of the year. Here’s a cool idea; Make a gratitude jar and putting in a note weekly with what you are grateful for, open it at the end of the year to activate gratitude.
Plan: A lighter schedule comes with a clear head and makes it easier to make plans and develop a roadmap for the next year. When all is said and done, holidays don’t last forever! Therefore creating a plan and goals for the next year is the best way to seamlessly leave one year and enter the next.
Ultimately we all know whats makes us individually appreciate the holidays be it chilling with family, fun activities or simply doing nothing at all, whatever it may be, we hope you make the most of the holidays. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Workshop Family.
