How to Make the Most out of a Networking Meeting

 Going to a networking meeting can feel a little overwhelming at first. There are so many people to network with, which causes you to stress over making the most of your time. Here are just a few tips on how to make that happen at a networking meeting. 


Set a goal for the meeting. Do you want to meet 10 new people? Do you want to connect with a certain person you have been wanting to meet? Walking into your networking meeting with a specific goal in mind is helpful to keep you focused on knowing exactly what you want to accomplish with your time.


Bring Business Cards. You want to be able to connect with people, as well as have them be able to easily connect with you after the event. Having a business card is the best way to achieve this goal!


Have a clear elevator pitch. You only have a few minutes (or less) to tell someone what you do and who you are looking to work and/or connect with, so it’s important to be clear and concise. People lose attention after only a few seconds, so it is important to only say the most important things you do in your business.


Step out of your comfort zone. It’s not always easy to be the first one to start a conversation, especially with someone you don’t know in a room full of strangers. Luckily, everyone is in the same boat! It can be made less nerve racking by simply saying hi and asking about their business. 


Be interested in them. Be sure that you ask questions about the people you meet and don’t just talk about yourself the whole time. The conversation should be equal in which you both are sharing information about your businesses.
