This step is also important not only for our own organisation but also for informing the forums, industry and law, thus must be conducted with same seriousness like the containment of incidents.
I agree, the post-mortem analysis is the most important step in the incident management process. It's important to access the situation, get to the root cause, and create a plan whenever possible to avoid future incidents like this.
