How To Make Money On YouTube Without Monetization

How To Make Money On YouTube Without Monetization

The first thing that comes to mind for someone who is just starting out on YouTube is to make money by monetizing their videos.?

Some people mistake this process to be as easy as uploading videos on YouTube and watching the money roll in, but it doesn’t quite work like this.

At the time of making this video, if you want to get monetized you need 1,000 subscribers and over 4,000 hours of watch time.

And the time it takes you to hit those targets can vary widely depending on the channel you've made, the quality of your content and how many videos you upload but let me tell you, it doesn’t happen overnight.

And even if you do get monetized, the money you make every month is completely random - it comes down to what kind of videos you’re making, your niche, and the audience you attract.

So how can you make money on YouTube without relying on monetization?

Well, if you stick around that’s exactly what I’m going to explain today.

Actually, there are at least 5 other ways to make money on YouTube.

Selling Your Own Products And Services

Yep, that’s right, we’re starting with the obvious one here especially if you’re running a business, and that is to use YouTube to sell your own products and services.

All the videos you make can include links in the description that people can click on to either buy your products and services outright or to book sales appointments with you - depending on your sales process.

This is one of the main reasons why a business might want to start a YouTube channel.

Because although they might not view monetization as a primary goal, being able to sell your products and services directly from YouTube is everyone's dream.

That’s because your videos stay on YouTube forever, so people can watch your videos at any time of the day, months even years after it’s been uploaded, and buy from you.

Most of the time when someone says you can make money while you sleep it’s a complete lie, but when it comes to YouTube it’s actually quite common.

Selling Digital Products.

You can sell ebooks, courses, training programs - you name it. And the best thing about selling digital products on your channel is that people can buy directly from your channel.

They just click the link in the description of your video, and it’ll take them to a page where they can buy straight, and then bam - you’ve just made a sale without having to speak to anyone.

If you're running a business and you don’t have any digital products I would strongly recommend that you consider selling some because they’re a great way to get a return on your ad spend.

For example, if you’re running ads on an appointment page, a lot of people might not be ready to jump on the phone with you.

But if you can sell a digital product, which is priced at the low ticket, say under $2,000, you can easily sell this directly from your website.

And when you sell something low-ticket, you not only make money, and therefore a return on your ad spend, but you also get to help your prospects achieve small wins on the way to a bigger problem that your main products and services can fix.

Consulting or Coaching Programs

These can be sold in a similar way to digital products or you might prefer to get prospects to book a call with you first - it really depends on your sales process.

You can offer one-on-one consulting, group coaching programs, or even offer multiple tiers depending on how much time people want from you.

Consulting and coaching services can be offered as lower ticket services to get your foot in the door with a new prospect and potentially upsell them on your much bigger products and services.

And it’s pretty easy to make videos that naturally lead viewers into purchasing coaching or consulting services because the reason they watch your videos is to get help with a problem they’re currently experiencing.

Affiliate Programs / Marketing

Affiliate marketing has been around since 1989, so it’s a pretty solid way to grow your business despite all the negativity around out.

There are two ways in which you can make money through affiliate marketing.

The first way is to refer your viewers to other people's products and services.

So for example, if you check out the link in the description below, you can see which companies I’m affiliated with.

I refer my viewers to these companies because I use them personally and believe they can help you achieve different goals - so you’ll want to do the same when it comes to choosing your affiliates.

Affiliate marketing is really simple to understand - basically, each time someone makes a purchase using your referral link, you get a payout.?

There’s no limit to how many links you can put in the description of your videos and also no limit to how many affiliates you can have.

You can stack affiliate links with courses and consulting programs - so when someone buys your course or consulting program, you can refer your affiliate links to them so they can achieve the result they’re after.

But there’s also another way to make money with affiliate marketing and it’s basically the reverse of what I’ve just spoken about.

You can create your own affiliate program and get other YouTubers to refer their viewers to purchase your products and services.

It’s kind of like offering someone a commission to make sales, except you just give them a referral link, offer them no training, and let them make the best of what they have.

Actually, in saying that, offering some kind of sales training with your affiliate program might be a good idea - just a thought.

Sponsorship

Sponsors work in a variety of ways and every business is different so you’ll need to negotiate the terms and conditions of your agreement but they essentially work like this.

A company that sells to the same audience as you but does not compete directly will approach you, or you approach them and offer to pay you to mention them in your videos.

They can pay you per video, per set of videos, or monthly and even yearly depending on the terms and conditions of your agreement.

Some people make thousands of dollars for every video they make just because they have a sponsor, which is really cool if you’re looking to invest that money back into your business - for something like advertising.
