How To Make Killer Networking Introductions That Stick Over Email

There is a lot of email noise these days. It's easy to miss important ones, and it's easy to file away the noise to the "get to it someday" folder, or just archive/delete it altogether. When making an introduction over email, it needs to stand out to work.
I'm not exactly sure where I picked this tip up... I think someone sent me an introduction like this and I have been doing it consistently since. The twist? I use the audio notes app on my phone to make the real intro. I sent an introduction today, and I wish more people would make my life easier by doing things like this... thought I would share.
Subject Line: always important.
- Make it clear it's an introduction. "Joe meet Jane, Jane meet Joe"
- Add an action so it gets a little more attention "Joe meet Jane, Jane meet Joe - Please stop and listen to this message"
- Optional - take a tip from email marketers and add an emoji to make it pop "Joe meet Jane, Jane meet Joe ??- Please stop and listen to this message
Text Content: simple and brief.
- Write your intention. "I want to introduce you" or "I want to introduce you because.." keep it short
- Explain the next part... Use humor, do something, but get your introduction people interested... "No, this isn't spam, it's actually [your name] - I made this recording for you to listen to because it's really important that you know each other and I thought you might have enough other emails to read.
- Another email marketer's tip: include a call to action: "Listen Now"
Audio Content: 1-2 min at max.
- Make notes for yourself so it's easier to record. I use 1 sticky note or 1 index card per person.
- Include a few bullet points per person. I like to include how I know each of them, some work history if appropriate... and then offer how they might benefit from knowing each other.
- Make it informative and fun and empathize with each person to understand what might motivate them to connect with each other.
- Record the audio, (I like naming it something like "Jane meet Joe") and then save it - Attach it in your 1-2 short sentenced email and send away.
Networking only works if you are networking... This is a simple way to keep your head in the game, be remembered, and help others.
