How To Make Failure Work For You
I think that everyone would agree that failure sucks. It is horrible because you feel that you could have done better or maybe you just feel that you should have gotten a better outcome.
I remember when I failed classes in high school and college. I felt that I was dumb, and I just put myself in a mindset that kept me from truly succeeding. I remember being on stage playing a song and noticing that I was playing it completely wrong. I was ashamed. My whole body turned red. I practiced the song I said to myself I should have done amazing. I was wrong. I was not truly giving it my all. Sometimes people may be gifted, however, a lot of times skills are built in the trenches.
You have an ability to learn from failures; however, the only way that you can do this is by analyzing what brought you to fail. There is a way for you to succeed even in the midst of failure. It all begins with what you do with the failure that comes.
Whenever you fail at something, ask yourself what caused me to fail at this? Was it that I did not put in the proper amount of practice on the subject. 9/10 times that is the case of most failure. You have to get the perspective of others who know what they are doing. You cannot just expect to do something once and be incredibly successful. It all begins with asking others who are experts to teach you or give you pointers. It is about understanding what is not working and looking for alternatives to make it work for you next time.
I remember just a few days ago I did not practice everything that I was supposed to because I gave myself an excuse on why I did not need to practice. That was a lie. It wasn't until I noticed that the mentally I had brought me to failure in life. If you want to become better, you must learn from your failures. Analyze the situation and confront it head on. The only person you can change is yourself.
I heard a quote and it said something like this, “If you are going to fail, fail forward”. What the heck does that mean? It means to pursue and improve. Move forward in life; not backwards'.
