How to make a “dud” business pitch great

?? A few weeks ago, I listened as one of my clients took 90 mins to explain his business to me.

I was trying (really!)?to concentrate and understand bearing in mind I’ve been in the software tech sector for 30 years.

But, he was doing was describing his business in a way that made sense to him from his own unique perspective.?

It was far too technical and much too detailed which made it impossible to buy-in to his business.

It’s painful to see senior execs give their company pitch and make the same mistake.

The software sector is still relatively new when compared to many other business sectors.

Difficult as it may seem to those of us involved in the sector, it’s an industry that’s still maturing.

Executives within our industry often need an honest reality check on the pitching of their business.

Very few can succinctly pitch their business to others in a convincing manner.

And I mean?very?few.

But this is exactly why?every?software business must create its own equity story.

And, this doesn’t just work when trying to attract investors.

It will improve your client and staff relations within your business and create alignment within your company.

Everyone will be on the same page and know exactly who you are, what you do, and why you’re special.

Now, I’m sometimes brutal with my clients as when I give feedback on their pitch.

But that critique comes from the right place.?

Typically at the heart of the problem is a poor equity story.

And my clients will often underestimate the negative impact of a poor deck…

While also at the same time, underestimating just how powerful a good deck can be.

And, that’s why I feel it’s my duty to tell them the truth, whether they like it or not.

So, this one simple document could drastically improve how your business is perceived, both internally & externally.

?? Never believe you don’t need an equity story and a great pitch deck.

Create one.

It’s worth the hassle.
