How To Make $30,000 in 90 Days... in Alberta
There are two kinds of entrepreneurs in the Alberta: Those that see amazing opportunity, and those that see it as "the economy sucks".
But there is one thing that I always know. It's about how we see opportunity that creates possibility and wealth.
This is shown by the old story of the shoe salesmen who were sent to Africa and asked if there was a market for shoes. The first salesman reported back, “This is a terrible business opportunity, no-one wears shoes.” The second salesman reported back, “This is a fantastic business opportunity, no-one wears shoes.”
How Do You Find New Clients?
Far too many entrepreneurs I meet, when I ask them how they get their clients, say "word of mouth". That's it. There is no strategy or plan to attract new prospects and clients. They sit by the phone and aggressively wait for it to ring.
Some of them have a decent, or pretty good, social media presence, but they still haven't been able to feel comfortable asking for the sale.
Whether you are at a networking event, making a cold call, or trying to get more people to attend your webinar, as an entrepreneur you need to get out of your comfort zone and find new clients. Ask for the referral. Go for coffees. Start small, but consistently push yourself out of your comfort zone.
But I Only Want To Help People, Not Sell To Them
This is another one I run into often. Many people went into business for themselves because they have a product or service that is their passion. Tt helps people, and they don't want to come across "sales-y".
What I tell my clients is if they love what they do, if they believe their product or service does that much good for people, they need to spread their message. They need to talk about the features, the benefits, and how amazing it does to help others. They need to, at the right time, talk about price. And more importantly ask for the sale. If their product or service is as amazing as they say it is, they are doing more of a disservice to others by not spreading the message than by promoting it.
Stop Spending Time on Non-Value Activities
This is the one that I hit my clients with hardest every time. When we start to break down their day, I ask "what have you done this week to generate new business"?
Then the answers come back: emails, posting to social media, meeting someone for coffee, writing a blog post... and the list goes on.
But of course my follow up question is, "and how many of those resulted in an order"?
Then the sound of crickets...
I'm not saying the activities they participated in weren't value-added to generating revenue. Over time these activities build relationships. But at some point these conversations need to lead to clients, or they need to be viewed as they are, wasted time.
Putting Value in Yourself
Across Alberta we are hosting a one-day entrepreneurial event to cover these questions and help business owners find, attract, and convert more prospects into clients.
We have held this event in the past, and we are bringing it back by popular demand, at the amazingly low price of $47 per person. At this price we are giving away our time for free, because this information is needed by so many people in business.
Bring yourself value before you provide value to your clients. Invest the day in yourself and your business, and turn that stack of cold lead business cards sitting on your desk into $10,000 a month over the next 90 days!
